Dont know if anyone else has had this problem with induction.
Got myself a BMC pod fillter 100mm flange, used a 100x100mm ss pipe to join it straght to the standard induction pipe, plus home made bracket, but since fitted got loss of power and flat spots everywhere, plus engine management light comes on if it sucks to much air. light goes of after 5mins of easy driving. Whats that all about, does anyone know :?: [/b]

Yes its crazy, standard air box, it ran fine, but now runs pants.
The only other mod it's had, is one of those chips you wire in to air intake senser to fool the injection system that its running cold so gives it a fuel boost.
But that was fitted way before and worked a treat.

Guarantee thats the problem right there. Can you disconnect the chip easily?

Is this one of those chips you get for a bargain price off ebay?

yeah, get rid of the 50bhp bonus chip and you will regain your power.
Might help to reset the ecu and all to, disconnect battery for 15mins once the power  chip, is removed.

Yes, chip is one of those cheap ebay gizmo's. And yes, its a 10second job to take it off.

Took her for a spin and thanks to you guys, it was back to being a pocket rocket.
Nothing pisses you of more than when ya car dosen't run right.
Thanks for ya help again.

Sound superb, (yes very happy) before it was suck and no go, it did not want to go past 7500rpm unless you were going down hill with the wind behind ya.
Just some new struts and springs, new wheels, body kit, spray job, brakes, exaust system and I'll be really really happy.
All in good time.

Not doing to bad.
Only had the car two months and already done;
Tappets, plugs, 3 oil changes, trans flush; the transfusion way, tierod ends, all front end bushes replaced with super flex polyurethanes, timming belt, ebay power chip, off comes ebay power chip, blue LED dash lights, in aircon also, centre console replaced, kenwood, amp, sub, and the BMC air pod, plus a few things like sealing bonet and boot re-enforsing so the car does not sound like a bean tin when you slam em shut .
All done myself with the help of my brother-in-law ,who's qualifyed.
Good job really as I would have had to sell my ass to pay to get all that done ;)

...And someone who has a self-professed semi-decent knowledge of mechanics etc. installed a '+20HP RACING TUNE CHIP!!!' you purchased off eBay for 50c, without doing any research at all in relation to long term side-effects or how it actually works?

No doubt you'll be posting up some details on a proposed electric supercharger project in the near future...
