Maintenance for a trip

Hey Guys and Gals,

Due to an epic failure by the transport company, my FTO is currently not here when it should be. Since it left the dealer last Tuesday, it's only made it as far as Brisbane?!

So they're paying for my flight down to Brisbane so that I can pick her up on Boxing Day and drive it home as I don't like the idea of it sitting at a depot somewhere, waiting for someone to break into it over the break (the company can't get it to me until the 7th of January).

I plan to check the oil, radiator, power steering and brake fluid levels before I head off, along with tyre pressure.

It's a manual GPX, anything else I should be aware of before driving 650kms?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I'd just be checking the air filter and doing a visual inspection of tyres and brakes as well. Check your tyre pressures as well. On stock rims they should be 32psi front 28psi rear. Have fun driving it back on boxing day mate . The bruce can be pretty crazy around that time of year. Should be a good drive though.

I remember you did get the car checked out by a workshop in Sydney right? If so I wouldn't be too concerned, just check the fluid levels and tyre pressures and you should be fine.

Sorry to hear about your tranpsort issues, post up some pics when you get a chance. Oh and take it for a run up Mount Archer, sensibly though.

I live in Frenchville, so that might become a bit of a frequent occurrence...

Go for a walk of the afternoon or take the car for a hill climb? Hmmm decisions, decisions...

Thanks for the info on the tyre pressures, and yes the car was checked in Sydney, but with very little open around this time period, I want to avoid a breakdown if at all possible.

fair enough mate. Virtualy the exact reason I'm not coming up now in early January. Got a Clutch slave cyliner on the way out and am waiting for a new one to get here. So with no money at the moment I can't take the risk. Should be up that way around March though ;)

   You think you have it hard, when local talk starts about good driving roads the usual response is..."any road leaving town". I love living in the mountains ;)
