FTO AUSTRALIA

Hey,
My clutch hasnt gone yet but its slipping a lot and ive a feeling its going to go awfly soon, so i wanna get a new clutch asap.

SO anyone have any recomendations as to what clutch and where to get it installed?? im looking to pay tops 1g mebbe 1200 but 1200 MAX.

i got mine replaced with an Exedy heavy duty clutch at SL Motorsports at Clayton/Springvale... PM Kevin and he'll hook you up with the mech. I don't wanna divulge on what it costed me (without permission) so we'll see what he can do for you but in either case it shouldn't be anywhere near the $1K mark...

but if u insist on spending that much, you could get an organic clutch for that money...

jeaesus!!!! i thought spending around the 1g mark was for just a decent average joe heavy duty clutch...
but anything anything at all cheaper than that im all ears...
could you PM me the details of the place you got yours done and possibly even a ballpark figure of the cost, doesnt have to be exact, just around what you paid.

also have you had any trouble with yours? and are they trust worthey (as in ive got 3/4ths of a tank of petrol, will i get it back with 1/4 left??)

friction point on my new clutch is now closer to the firewall, about 15-20mm(ish) from being fully depressed. My old clutch had something like 35-40mm travel before friction point LoL...

Timmy PM me if u seriously interested on the clutch, i've specially order Mikey's clutch as he wanted to be done ASAP (24hrs notices)

If u just rock up to the workshop, don't expect the same price as Mikey, cause those guys doesn't know you, & you need to book in advance as well.

The Rpw clutch is only 600 (without fitting), same as my Cusco rocket clutch with less force needed.

i got a daiken clutch and its pretty crap, lasted me 12 months, and now im in the market for a new one, prob cause i ride the clutch heaps so i dont spin the wheels too much off the line, but anyways whats the exzedy clutch worth ?? parts only, and does it slip at all ?
Also I have found my daiken clutch was so soft felt like a daytona machine at time zone, but now its extremly hard to press, nearly as bad as a brass button

Exedy is also known as Daikin and vice versa... however i've had no problems with it but yeah as with any clutches, the harder you ride on it the quicker it will wear out...

I've had my new Exedy clutch for about 3 weeks now and i have been fanging it from time to time but i'm not getting any slippage (YET). Check my Exedy clutch review thread for details...

Brass button clutches are useless for day to day driving, due to its on/off nature... forget it.

i dont tihnk mine was the heavy duty 1

No worrys mate, just one note, & don't take it the wrong way, cause i've notice on the other post that the mechanic who getting the clutch for you doesn't even know the engine model for the FTO.

It sounds to me he doesn't even know what a FTO is & its going 2 be a bit hard if he just looking it up via the engine model, as its not listed in Aus supplier book.

I would get a written warrenty on his work, cause a wrong clutch can cause serious problem to any car.

agreed, thats why my dad and myself figured it would be better to get your friends to do it because they've worked on FTO's before. But where going to let these other guys see what they can come up with before making the decisions.

Also, how soon could you mech do it? like how long till they get the part?
