car dies when not accelerating

im pretty sure this has been covered before but if anyone could help that would be great. When i went to stop at the traffic lights this arvo the engine clunked out, i noticed it happens when i dont have my foot on the accelerator, as soon as i take it off it just dies. Any Ideas?

Is the Stepper hard to change? Luckily i bought one a few weeks ago just in case

dead easy.

I find it easier to take the intake off at the throttle body end. Just undo the hose clamp and pull it off. Do the same at the filter end if you want it completely out of the way. Then disconnect the stepper (It sticks out under the throttle body) and undo the 2 10mm bolts that hold it in. Replace with new one and put back in the intake.

Alright that's done, Battery meter no longer jumps around as it has been for the last 3 months.. Although there not bolted in with 10mm bolts they use 16mm. .. Thanks for your help guys

It shouldnt have been a 16mm bolt, in fact i have never used my 16mm socket in all the yrs i have been working on cars

But im glad she is all better ;)

5mm by 16mm right?? the 10 mm ones are too short

Yep, I blew Kaz's stepper up a few days back. As you can see by the post in Wanted to Buy :lol:

Ya should try driving a tip with a completely dead stepper! I had to 2 foot drive! Left on the brake, right on the gas just to keep it idling :?
