Brakes squeeking

Just changed my front brakes over the weekend, DBA slotted and EBC green stuff, and it's squeeking every time I brake. Is this normal with new brakes and pads? also there's burning smell.

Other then that it's when i need to stop quick and fast !!

The burning smell is normal as the brakes have to wear away the thin layer of protective covering on the brakes, once they wear away after a week or so the smell should go away. As for the squeaking I would say that they might need lubrication, not too sure, It might be normal  for new brakes so if the noise continues get it looked at.

Please don't lubricate them. 8O 8O

Maybe not the brakes but possibly some other source. I wouldnt worry about it too much anyway, squeaking is common in new and old cars.

I've got a similar setup and the squeeking is pretty normal at certain pedal pressures and brake temps. It due to the fact the EBC green stuffs have a higher metal concentration that a normal pad. Most upgraded brake kits will squeek due to the pad's being of a harder material or more metal in them that promote better braking.

I'd only be concerned if it is squeeking all the time when your braking. If this is the case one of the calipers probably needs some attention. One of the sleeves on the calipers can go which will mean the caliper won't alpy evenly and therefore you get uneven pad wear and the noise is from this. This would only be if the noise is continous though.

If it's just coming and going and you can change you pedal pressure and the noise goes away (ie don't apply the brakes as hard) then I would not be concerned.

I don't drive it that much, i guess it's because i don't let the heat up to it's optimal temp which may cause the noise. i'll have a good drive this weekend with heavy braking and see what'll happen.

thanks guys
