Suddenly stalling ??

Hey there people,
was driving my GPX yesterday and out of the blue it began stalling.
Driving along and if I was stationary at lights it would just stall, wouldn't idle at all. It restarts easily, and is drivable (got it home) but as soon as the foot is off the accelerator it just stalls.
Any ideas?
Going to get the RACV to see it tomorrow and get it to my mechanic on tuesday, been busy with the GP

SOunds like your idle speed controller. Either something isn't workin or one of the passages is blocked by accumulated dirt.
Take it down to a mechanic and get him to air blow the throttle body and it's idle controller passages. Then start her up and see if she idles again.
If you worried about it now, go tot he car now a, unplug the large black plastic tube attached to the throttle body. Place a toothpick into the butterfly so it's open slightly and try turn her on and see is she stays idling. It will idle above normal though, but this will give you a good answer as to what it is or isn't!

i had a similar problem with mine last sat night.... the car just stalled, then when i started it it would just stall straight away when i had my foot off the gas.... and i noticed the battery light being on too (battery's new coz i replaced it a month ago).... did this a couple of times, then when i parked the car and came back to it after 3 hours, it was back to normal.... any ideas???

Blk-Jet, you were right on the money, cleaned it out there and it is definately better, still not right so I'll take it to be serviced tomorrow, was due end of the month any way.

temp fix is too turn the idle screw a bit to get the base idle higher.

I've got the same problem. My mechanic played around with the idle control for a couple of days without any luck. He seems to think it's the computer. So now the computer has to come out and sent down the road to get looked at.

Ended up relacing the idle controller, putting in Platinum plugs and servicing, running perfect again!!

for those looking for a cheap fix(man i sound like a tight arse) on a faulty ISC, i was told your old one can be reconditioned for $110... it will take 2 hours.. apparently comes with 6 months warranty...
still have to get mine done so cant vouch for its quality..
