Anyone have a Veilside Kit?

Hi,

I am thinking about buying a Veilside kit for my '95 GPX, however I'm hoping for the feedback from anyone who already has one.

I had one on my last car - an MY99 WRX, and I had no end of trouble with it. The car wasn't lowered, however it kept on grounding out as it was that much lower that the original front. It was also too low to easily get onto the back of a tow truck - they couldn't put the ramp down flat on the ground as the angle was too much to get the wheels to the ramp before the bottom of the front hit the ramp. They had to hover the ramp about 5 cm off the ground and put a plank of wood on the ground to drive onto so that I could get on to the truck. Also, at one point I needed to be toed using the tow rope, and the Veilside kit completely obstructed the loop. I had to take off the whole front bumper just to get toed to the repair centre.

I hated that car, but I have my suspicions that if I hadn't have had the Veilside kit installed, I'd have been much happier with it. I don;t want the same headaches with the FTO.

So anyone that has one installed, please let me know what you think about it. Have you expererienced any of the same problems? Can you still use the tow loop?

Cheers.

Andy

If you put a body kt on, you will have the same drama's as your wrx. However, they are not hard to remove, i can remove my front bar in about 5 mins. So if you ever need to get it towed just take it off :D

As for getting up gutters etc, its all about technique but if you cant be bothered with that then i suggest you dont get one fitted as it will decrease the clearence

Hope that sheds some light

also the front lip comes off with about 4-8 bolts/srews and then it would have more clearance than a standard bar.

[hey mate clayton here yes we have a veilside kit on our 1994 fto gr and it looks stunning you will be looking at around 1500-2000 dollars for the whole kit (frount side and rear) price up some bodykit places and they should be able to help you out.
paint and fit is a killer so be careful who you choose.

also i have a question for you????
our fto on start up sounds real ruff and feels like it wants to stall and driving it hesitates when i put the foot down ive replaced the plugs but do you think it could be the leads????
please help.... :(

I saw that. There is another thread on here that mentions it too. But... The ad expired 125 days ago so there is no guarantees that it is there any more (they don't say how many they have). Also, that doesn't look like the Veilside side bar that I had on my WRX. Is that a Veilside side bar???

Ha, I did not know that. I've only ever seen those style skirts tagged as Topmix. Learn something new every day...

Mate not many people do. But when you look on the topmix site, even the code for those side skirts starts VS1.
