hey guys..just wondering if someone's made a list or something similar about the differences between the GPvR and GPX.
looking at getting one within the next year, and looking to see which one i should get..
I already know about;
Air-Con
Strut bars
Seats
Wing (duhh)
i think theres something to do with mirrors?
anyway, some help would be great..
Cheers,
Dams.

Sorry for digging up an old thread, but i too have a question with regards to the GPX vs GPvR topic. I'm looking for an FTO atm, and have found a 1997 model that i do like, but i am not sure if it is a GPX or a GPvR.
It has the Blue FTO racing seats as seen on GPvRs, but it doesnt have any strut braces, which are shown as standard on completefto.com, it also does not have climate control. Did all GPXs come with climate control? sorry if these questions have been answered hundreds of times, i could not seem to find any information!

Yep all GPX's have climate control. GPvR's have the lancer like manual air-con. It's a shame but a lot of the standrad stuff like strut braces are taken off for compliance now days.
If your not sure if it's a GPvR or a GPX but the chassis number in here and it will tell you:

Itll be a Version R. As rallymad said, sometimes the strut braces are removed for compliance. And the fact that it has manual aircon is makes it a certainty. It will have the LSD though

wow thanks guys! I will go check the car out in person soon if possible, I was also confused as this particular car did not have the facelift front bumper, whereas all the Version Rs i see around seem to have them!
Also, does anyone have a copy/link of 'Decoding the chassis number' as seen on completeFTO? as the page on the site does not seem to work. Thanks for the quick responses guys, will do an introduction soon!
One more question, how much should I be expecting to be paying for a manual GPvR these days? given that it is in decent condition. Thanks!
*edit* I know there is a thread about this already, but a virus notification comes up every time a load a page on this site! will it be fixed?

Its a GPvR for sure ... manual air cond and that pretty much tells you its a vR.
I would estimate about 15k

The VersionR.net decoder hasn't worked for years mate. If you want to know details of the car like build date and model and stuff like that us the decoder that I posted up the link for or if you want to know what the chassis numbers mean see here:

Not all version R's are facelift either mate. There were some built prior to facelift in 96. They come with a viscous LSD instead of the later Version R's Mechanical diff but it's still a great LSD. As dstocks said the manual air-con is a give away.
Though +1 to buying bushido's car especially if you want coil overs and all that other good stuff
