Cam seals, hydraulic tensioner leaks bad

Was going to get the mechanic to to do a timing belt kit and water pump change. and got bad news.
1) the water pump which i got from kempys was wrong. Bloody hell! what am i going to do? I remember i specified '97 FTO GPX...
2)cam seals, hydraulic tensioner leaking. That explains the bad oil leak which i suspected was the faulthy fumoto oil drain valve.
I mean i felt nothing wrong with the car, apart from the oil leaks. But when they removed the belt covers, it reveals the leaks which is pretty much everywhere!
Hes gona call up and get me the quotes on all the seals and water pump. I reckon its gona be at least 1k for just parts alone? how much you reckon for labour?
Cos the mechanic said its a big job.

Cross reference the part number with caps to check if it's right. Be weary of your mechanic as they like to tell u bullshit just so you purchase their marked up parts... I think the water pumps from both the gpx and the gr are the same though but you may wanna check that.... For the other parts, if you can't get them through kempsy's try camskill... Price on labour's gonna vary, but you're pretty much getting a major service done which is around the $1500 mark give or take... Hope that helps

how to cross check with caps? whats that? sorry never done it before.
yeah, he asked me if i want to get genuine timing belt as well, but i told him i alreday got an aftermarket belt myself. he just said might as well go everything genuine for safe measure that it will definitely fit.
I actually got the waterpump from kempsy and the mechanic said its wrong! im going to double check on that!

genuine mitsu parts will cost you your arm and leg literally. CAPS is the parts breakdown software that mitsu use. I haven't gotten a copy yet but perhaps other members can confirm the part number for you... Definitly double check it!

Mechanics always lie to make you buy their sh*t and put in your car. The waterpump you have, in my opinion should be fine...

...but yea, same thing happened with my exhaust, then i went somewhere i know and got it done for $60, instead of $240 from midas.

A bunch of blood sucking bastards! LOL.
basically, i heard u can only get seals from mitsu genuine. so those are what i get from the mechanics. Dont know how much they have marked up.
I got oem waterpump and timing belt kits by myself.

shoot kempys an email and tell them what you want, you'll get it cheaper delivered then you buying from mistsi oz.

I changed my FTO timing belt at 140k and I had no leaks to think of. Done close to 200k now still no leaks!

I doubt your tensioner is leaking or you would have had problems with a loose cam belt before now. When I did my cambelt the oil leaking from the camseals had pooled in the recesses of the tensioner so it looked like it was leaking. It wasn't and its been fine since then.
It sounds like another way to get money from you IMHO.

Ya you make sense. but the belt is tension is pretty soft but not loose enough cause any damage yet.
my ride was bone stock when i bought it. the previous owner only lowered the ride. and i've just did an oil change with Castrol Magnetic. Oh well, i just want my ride to get well again and soon make it fit for track.
