f**k i feeel like sh*t at the moment
i borrowed my friends magna
i reved it too hard and the auto gear box shitted itself
i parked it in ashfield and now when i turn on the engine it makes a funny sound but it still idles at 1000rpm but when i put it into drive or reverse and push the acclerator the revs go up but the car stays still and it doesnt roll even

got no idea on what to do

any suggestions?

Dont fear i dont think youve blown the box! How many ks on the clock? If it has done above around 170000 theres a very good chance the torque converter has spat it.Good news is they are only about $200,bad news by the time you pay for labour youd be looking at around $1600 as it is a prick of a job on any fwd car.

are you sure its the torque converter cause i dont feel the chug when i go from n to d

the car is a 1985 magna
and it has 226,000 km

Positive since that "chug" is the gearbox engaging to the engine,if the torque converter is broken you wont get that chug.The gearbox doesnt actually engage to the engine but ive put this into laymans terms.

i dont think its worth $1600 to fix a 1985 magna?

You could do it yourself but its a bitch of a job.You need to remove the gearbox and probably the engine mount too depends on the car some of them require the whole motor to be removed.Access to a hoist would help too as lying flat on ya back trying to lift a gear box into place is not much fun(they may not seem that heavy,but try lifting the gearbox flat on your back with no room to move ) Ive done it once with no hoist and ill pay someone next time.Good luck!
