when i changed my shocks recently, i was looking for extra leverage to un-do some of the bolts. i found a length of 50mm PVC pressure pipe that was left over from the pool install. it was about 1200mm long and fit over the handle of my ratchet driver.
i found it worked better than metal pipe as it is lighter and easier to handle and didn't damage the driver's handle. it flexed a bit, but this was ok as it loaded up the ratchet slowly and gave me some feel as to how much torque i was applying. the bolts finally cracked loose without much force. this stuff is pretty cheap and you can have a few different lengths and it won't rust.
