Greetings from the not so sunny UK.
Need your help diagnosing a problem with my Girlfriends car before I get raped for garage charges.
Was just coming onto a roundabout and put my foot down to change from third to second (GR Tip), car went bang big time and lost drive but no error messages and no flashing N.
If you start the car the engine runs fun but there is a whine from the gearbox and the car wont engage if you put it into drive.
Have a feeling it may be the torque converter but wanted to check before I start ordering parts.
Any ideas people?

Sounds like torque converter but its one of those things that without stripping it down theres no way of telling. It does sound very bad though

Yep I am fearing the worse but until I get it stripped down there is no way of knowing.
Guess its just a case of waiting now!

The only thing i can suggest is to an oil change, but i believe in your case it will not help at all.

Did a full oil change on it just before christmas and its been running fine.
I'm going to get it towed in tomorrow and stripped down and see whats wrong with it.
