cat converter problems

ok guys i had my cat changed around 4 months ago as the one i had on it before for around 3 months blew out. I literally blew all the core out and all the metal was vibrating and it sounded real tinny now this has happened again is their something wrong with my car or just bad catalytic converters the latest one they said was a metallic cat but i have been told these are round and this one is int round. please can i get a hand

the cheep cats will go fast not a lot you can do about it.

mate if your changing cats like no tomorrow (not a common FTO issue) then obviously there is an issue with your engine.
It could be running too lean which has a tendancy to destroy your cat.

ok I have been told my timing might be out and my fuel is being burnt in my exhaust pipes not my motor and it could be running to lean he says I have to get it retuned but he says he cnt tune the standard ecu as he doe not have the programs. How can I tune my car apart from buying a piggyback ecu

i think he means running too rich. Running too rich will burn out the cat quick.

yes correct sorry to rich. So how do I tune to gt the fuel and air ratio correct

well i dunno then all i now is my cats seem to be getting fried really easily and quickly haha well that is what i am assuming

My FTO has almost done 200000 and im still on my orginal cat.
Your mechanic will know if your car is leaning out or running rich.

Put it on a dyno & check the A/F maps - then get them to diagnose the problem. I believe there is also an error code to tell you if the timing is out.

should be able to see the black soot all over the back of your car if its running that rich

Doubt its a timing issue.
Sensor issues, and leaks will cause fuel issues.
Take 1 spark plug out, and refer to the following site:

which one does your spark plug look like?
