hows it goin guys, my girlfreind and i just bought our first FTO GR a couple of weeks ago and then found your site just the other day. kinda wish i hada known about you guys earlier...
we bought the car from a dealer in castlemaine (vic) did anyone here have a look at this car?
now dont get me wrong our first FTO experience is going quite well(so far). but after reading your site i found out a few little or big depending how you look at it things that weren't quite rite.
1.car should have colapsable side mirrors. these are not functioning.
2.low fuel lite not working.
little things yes..
3. reading the build plate revealed the original engine was a 4g93 not a 6a12 thats been installed.
chassis is DE2A 1992 model.
now for originality this is bad but i got a better engine anyway

Well you sort of got some good and bad luck 8O

Good for 6a12 motor just hope they also changed ecu etc

As for mirrors and fuel light just simple probs take it back i'm sure if they are decent car sales they will sort it out for you if not sure we can help out on these forums will probaably just be wiring issues :D

Oh and WTTC (welcome to the club) :D

wtf??? a 1992 DE2A???

Sounds like the wrong plate to me... As far as i was aware the first FTOs were made in 1994 and chassis should be a DE3A..

Though the DE2A could be the GS model... but the year model is quite strange..

Did the GS have Auto Climate Control and Alloys and sh*t?

Transplant may have been done in Japan. A few DE2A GS's did come out here early in the grey import game thou.

got a feeling car was in a smash. they did a good job of fixing car if it was. the only 2 give aways were the center cap on steering wheel was all broken inside and when i removed the poxy panasonic cd player i found dried blood behind surround every thing else is fine. engine is a bit rattly though. doesnt matter as i have conections to get a new one this time it will be a mivec engine.
i will try and get some fotos up for your veiwing pleasure.
we've spent around 6-7grand on it just to tart the ol girl up.
lowered, 18's, tint, eclipse and MB Quart stereo and alarm. next is carbon bonnet then exhaust.

If its a GS, then its likely you wont have fold in mirrors or anything like that. Heres an easy way to find out. Have you got climate control. If the answer is yes, then its probably not a GS. If you have manual aircon/controls, then you either have a version R (which is unlikely from what youve described or a GS.

Try your chassis number in here and see what you get back:

Im trying to remember if I put in the DE2A as well as DE3A data. Guess you find out if you chuck in your chassis number.
