Driveshaft boot split

Was topping up the coolant today and noticed a split in my driveshaft boot. Its the one that's directly visible when looking down from the passengers side. Any info on this? How much would I be looking at for the part and for it fitted?? Is it something that needs replacing asap? I'd imagine grease would be leaking from it which would increase the wear on it though...

If you take the driveshaft out yourself, part and labour to fix is about $35 from memory

So your CV boot yeah or are you talking about steering boot. Id have to check my contacts but probably round $20 bucks for the boot if its a cv boot.

Nah definitly not the power steering boot. Not sure if this is the same as the cv boot, but when u take a look down into your engine, in between the coolant filler bottle and the tb, there's a boot directly down on the drive shaft assembly. The f**kers split at the top.

yeah sounds like cv boot. you have 2 of them per shaft. inner and outer. What your talking about is the inner. I would replace it for you but my time is so limited. Put it this way, if you got a mechanic to replace it for you the whole job should not cost more than $65

Just to confirm which boot it is, can you throw up a pic? Either way, you can get all of those boots from any Auto shop - just say you need a xxx cv joint boot for a HJ Galant. Oh and I'll swap it out for you for a case of piss
