Hi guys, many of you know that my car was in for repairs after I hurt it up at falls creek. Well, now its back from the smash repairers, and its almost less repaired than ever.
Heres the list, if you see something you think you can help with please tell me.
- Interior lights won't turn off when the doors are shut
- Fuel gauge showing empty (car was full when I took it in)
- Fuel warning light turning on and off
And these are the other issues with it:
- Bonnet subframe (the 'net' beneath it) not connected to top and bonnet thus very flimsy
- Bonnet does not pop up when lever is pulled, but its released
- Parts of the car seemingly sitting around inside it
- Boot light not connected
- Rear parcel tray cover (which I custom made) now sitting way forward
- White paint in my rear speakers
- Had the car resprayed, but paint seems swirled in and bad quality
Also is there meant to be a black bar that runs across the rear of the boot? Between the back of the rear seats and the start of the boot?
Thanks guys, I've already put in a complaint with my insurer, this is absolutely fucked. Shes sitting in an auto electricians right now, but I'm f**king livid. 7 Weeks and I end up with this.

Hey mate,
Sorry to hear that. Try putting in a few dollars fuel into the tank to see if the fuel light and guage problems go away. Maybe they drained the tank or something
As to the other things:
Bonnet subframe (the 'net' beneath it) not connected to top and bonnet thus very flimsy
When there is a hit in the front, the bonnet seals get broken between the subframe and the skin. This does weaken the bonnet and I would have said they should heve been replaced when the repairs were done.
Bonnet does not pop up when lever is pulled, but its released
This is just adjustment. That may be because the chassis is slightly bent or because the bonnet is just not adjusted correctly. They should be able to fiddle with it and get it to open properly for you.
Parts of the car seemingly sitting around inside it
Everything should have been put back in. no question there
Boot light not connected
Is this just a plug or something more
Rear parcel tray cover (which I custom made) now sitting way forward
Did this pop out when the accident occurred. If so, they may not have realised that it occurred. It may be just a simple matter of clicking it back in. If any of the clips are broken, they should be replaced under the claim.
White paint in my rear speakers
This isnt good. They should replace the speakers as a result of them stuffing it up
Had the car resprayed, but paint seems swirled in and bad quality
The insurance company is legally bound to repair your car to a reasonable standard (thats what you pay the premium for). If this has not been met, then you should tell the insurance company that if you dont get satisfaction (ie, repairer redoes the job properly) you will approach fair trading and have them held accountable. You should also be supplied with a car in the interim until the job is completed.
Hope that this works out for you mate. Nobody should have to put up with that sh@T
Oh and yes, there should be a black bar at the base of the parcel shelf in the boot

Thanks for the reply Dwayne, the car should have been full, they assured me they haven't driven it and Im sure I left it with a full tank. Also the light turns off and on randomly, and thats sitting still.
It thinks the doors are open constantly and so does the alarm system and thats why it doesn't turn the interior lights off.
That boot light thing was just an issue when I opened up the boot, it was sitting in pieces on the boot floor, as was the wiring to my now probably fucked speakers.
Every panel bar the drivers side door was going to be re-sprayed, so I paid extra for a full respray and to have the spoiler removed so I don't know if the insurance will cover that but the paint looks pretty bad. Its really 'swirly'.

but you paid EXTRA for that. Even if you cant make that stick, they are still liable for the paint on the panels that did need to be replaced. It sounds like the doors and bonnet havent been aligned properly (thus they arent shutting properly). What has the panel beaters response to all this been?

Well I don't want to speak to them ever again although I may have to, I mean I left the car there for 7 weeks, and they delivered it to me without fixing the bonnet, what the f**k was it doing there all that time if they weren't fixing things.
The door thing however, its an electrical problem seeing as we opened both doors, held in the sensors and it still said they were open, so they've wired it back up wrong somewhow.
Talking to my insurer today (Just Cars) and we'll see what happens. I just want my car out of that place, they're either lazy or incompetent. I mean they took me out the back of there at 5:10 pm yesterday when they said it would be done by 5, to find it sitting there with all these problems and parts of it sitting around inside it (well I think they are parts of it, there was a ton of small rubbers and things in the centre console, and my boot light) and my rear speakers showered in white paint.

Behold my speakers after 'repair'.

And my freshly scuffed by them rear bar.

I like how the repainted bonnet has paint pooled up on the sides because they used too much.

Brand new rear light - chipped.

Check the rubber between the bar and the light. Nice and pulled back.
Edit: and I just saw that scratch. f**k.

So good finding scratches on your front bar after its been moved from the repairers to an electrician.

The new back of my centre console.

That white stuff is all over the cars interior.
Thats basically the gist of it.

daammmn brotha, that looks really bad, id be livid with those fools too! let me know how u get the door/light thing fixed. ive got the same problem, so what iam doing now until i get it fixed, ive got the interior lights turned off, but the door open sign still comes on and because it's got it as doors are on, when u immobilise the car i.e lock the car, slight wind or a push on the car triggers the 600 Decible alarm! hahahaha annoys the shyt outta people when i leave the car outside their houses. Where abouts are the sensors anyways on the door?

It took me ages to find the damn thing too man, its in the door sill, about where the two angles meet along the horizontal and the vertical.
And believe me, I'm livid.

do you have photos before you gave it to the 'repairers' (if thats what they call themselves...
before and after photos can help in your cause, but nonetheless they should help you in fixing your interior at least. the paint might not have been polished before it was returned to you. my old V8 had sh*tty swirls all over it after a fresh paintjob, and i just fixed it myself with cut and polish and meguiars tech wax.
your bonnet not popping up is as far as i know, the little spring wrapped around the locking mechanism. and your flimsy bonnet can be bonded back together, but obviously the repairers were not the 'quality' type of workers.
with the interior lights, check the doorlight switches in your doors, see if they arent pushed in and stuck in that position. if thats not the problem, i'm sure there's a fuse that will disable them.

Not as high quality as the ones I've taken afterwards, but I have some somewhere that show it a bit better, apparently the car also hasn't been painted in a certain spot apparently, so I'm going to have to go take some more photos of that.
