I don't know if this has been done/is worth getting done but has anyone put a gilmer drive on an FTO before? Apart from stopping your belt slipping they sound really cool my cousin had one on a Gemini he used to own and it sounded mint. Also how hard are they to install?

I think that’s a grate idea they sound so cyber I never seen them on anything other than V8s but if room allows you might be able keep your existing belt and just bolt the gilmers on the front of the stock pulleys that way you wont have the hassle of fitting gilmer pulleys to your power stirring and aircon. But still sound like your driving a hi speed meat grinder

I had a look at my engine there is room to run a gilmer belt between the crank pulley and air conditioning pulley by attaching the gilmers to the stock pulleys but I think the gilmers have to match the stock pulleys size or match the difference between the crank pulley and air conditioning pulley so it wont try to spin the air con faster then the stock belt and make big mess. They do sound good

fto's dont really have the torque to make a belt slip, and even if the belt becomes glazed over time, you can get belt spray which stops slipping and squealing anyway. gilmer is wank, only for V8's

Come on... a lot of people like loud exhausts.
I don’t but I would never be so rude as to infer that they are wankers. a lot of people fit gilmers just for fun and not just on v8’s. Here’s some on an rx7…

hes NOT infering that ppl, that have them are wankers. He saying it is for wank value eg an atmostpheric BOV, neon lights, etc. Do you know what i mean???? Its like, it serves no purpose other than too show off, which is not a bad thing.
Im saying go for it, love to see and hear it, just dont have the belt too tight as they can and do snap alternator etc

Really depends how much of a purist you are.
We've got the full range of the spectrum here in the club, which is a good thing (mostly).
We go from people who would never buy anything less than top of the range, and would only ever use the parts which give the best performance increase, no matter what the cost.
We've got JDM-whores, brand fan boys, bling kings.. We've got people who can't always afford the brand name but put a lot of time, thought and effort into getting the very best results out of whatever they can manage to get a hold of; absolutely nothing wrong with that.
At the other end of the spectrum (not saying whether it's better or worse, make up your own mind) we've got those who love huge (heavy) chrome wheels and imaginary turbos.
Whatever floats your boat, in my opinion. If you like something, be proud of it, and screw what the punters say.
