Reving issues while decelerating. any ideas?

I have a reving issue. when I'm accelerating there is no problem, but sometimes when I back off the accelerator ever so slightly, even just to maintain a speed, the revs drop dramatically giving me a huge jolt, this is mainly felt in first gear, but more subtly in the others aswell. From what I've read it seems to be related to the stepper motor, but I want to be sure before I dish out $300 for the part. has anyone encoutered anything like this before?

For starters, if you need to buy a stepper motor, dont dish out $300 for one. they can be got for far less than that.

Tip or manual

May not be stepper motor do a ECU check sounds like you have idle throttle control (little black flat thing with two screws on elongated holes on front of throttle body) up to high what happens is when you back off the butterfly in TB does not shut properly resulting in light jolt or jerk in decelleration...
try turning down a little it with car at idle will also make it idle slightly higher or lower :D

Dont take the revs too high when the car is still cold...let it warm up...i used to let the revs go up, then i realised it was causing the revs to drop and switch the car off. Now i let it warm up a bit...then do what i want..no problems.
Hope that helps.
