Heating gone

What are the common causes of this, I do NOT have water on the passenger floor, and basically the only thing wrong is the climate control doesn't do hot anymore. I'm getting her back after paint & panel beating soon so I'm gonna really want that heating going with winter. :pale:

It can select the hot through the climate control, but it just blows cold. Was thinking maybe even something simple like a relay?

Could it be that the plug that opens up the hot water through the lines is clogged ???

could be air bubbles in the system. Jack the car up, remove radiator cap, start the car up, turn the heater on hot, keep running till reaches operatrting temp, leave running for 10mins and all air bubbles should work their way round and out the top of the radiator filler

Thanks guys. Yeah I'll be taking her (as soon as I get it back, jesus I hate waiting for parts) I'm taking it to my mechanic for lowering, and to get the heating fixed. Hopefully its nothing serious. Will post up the results.

Make sure the wee tube on th eback of th eair con unit is plugged in as this affects the temperature range if its disconnected ;)

Hmmmm - this could be a problem I'm having. Do you know whether it's possible to access this 'wee tube' easily by taking out the radio etc.

Sounds like this could be what's wrong with mine.

LOL, my heater is stuffed too! Mine's the core though - water everywhere.

I need a better FTO mechanic. I've been using Lee in Clayton South (VIC). He used to be really good but he's lost the plot these days.

Who else is good? Preferably someone in SE Melbourne, or otherwise near public transport.

Well I said I would update when I found out what was wrong, the reason I haven't updated is I don't... know

I got it back from the smash repairers after my accident and it started working again... I literally have no idea what fixed it, lol. I'm thinking an electrical relay.

Thanks Silverfish! Much appreciated.

Just spoke to Nandi - probably looking at about $800 :( Far out. He said it typically happens because the coolant is flushed out and replaced often enough.

Unfortunatly thats about right
But that is what happens when cars dont get looked after or regular service

Not saying that you havent but previous owners might not of?

If you have bit of confidence and are handy on car try removing dash yourself it will save you lots of $$$ as most of the charge is for labour not the actual part :D

Me? Handy? :) I'm a gun with PCs, but this sort of stuff leaves me cold. Oh well.

Where to buy?

I've got a friend who can help me with this. Does anyone know how much the heater core part is by itself? Is it a generic part?
