now this should of never passed the roadworthy should it?the mechanic should be liable shouldnt he for the cost of the new cat? ill post up a pic soon. ou can tell it doesnt havea cat only if you put it up on a hoist!

Not sure over there but mine has no cat as its legal for certain age cars here 8O
however would doubt that anyone is liable if car was already like it think you will have to bite the bullet and pay for one yourself if you have too :(

Weird, the piping didn't look 3inch but congrats! Can't complain haha.

As for the decat pipe. Yes if you get caught, you'll be liable for it (in nsw anyways) unless you try and take the mechanic to court but after all the fees, may as well just bought the cat in the first place.

I guess you're up for a high flow metal cat bud :(
Glad you like the sound the canon gives!
Hrmm the 3inch piping must've been an option or something. Was the piping stainless steel buddy ?

3inch is too big. You need some back pressure for optimum performance. Yes if you are pulled over you will cop a MASSIVE fine. If you were very crafty and good with words you might be able to threaten the mechanic to pay for a new one but for a $200-$300 item its probably just not worth the hassle

yeh its 3 inch piping from the catbac kthe guy said it doesnt look as big as 3inch but mite be around2.75 but hes money is on 3inch and also he goes no way in hell its a stock system and nuh not stianless steell but all the welds are absolutly immactulate even with the decat pipe.
Heres some pics....

Can someone reccomend some catalyctic coverters to me please are the xforce ones on ebay any good?

Also i got the islencer on the cannon now and its still fukn loud can the back pressure damage my engine or can having the islencer on damage my engine

Lol...

Best way to get caught for having no cat? Draw attention to it with a f*ck-loud cannon

I'd personally be inclined to run without it and try your luck. My last FTO was so illegal it should've been behind bars, but had no troubles with it anyway. Guess it depends on what else you're doing to draw attention to yourself...

i do feel asif the airflow is restricted with the siulencer on though...woudl getting a cat make the noise level lower mate?and also can the silencer damage the engine in anyway?could you please pick me out a cat form ebay simon or anyone or reccomend one to me thanks!

ill have a look for you tomorrow. As for restricting it with the silencer, i doubt that they would damage the engine if it has been installed properly.

Do you have a resonator on there at the moment, are you keeping the 3" pipe.

What do you want fron your exhaust eg
-Max performance?
-Max Noise?
-Max noise and performance?
-Max peformance and quiet as possible
-Legal?
etc etc

Tell us what you want from it and we should be able to guide from there and how much do you wanna spend

hmmm ok this is my system at the moment. No cat and 3 inch piping from the cat to where it gets to a hotdog and then goes to the rear flange and then becomes 2.5inch piping and then goes out in to a 2.5inch inlet and 4inch tip cannon. It has a silencer on the cannon now im worried that airflow is restricted and i can feeel it a bit and im worried this can damage the engine.

What i want out of it...

Decent noise nice and deep but nut ridiculously loud like it is now lmao and im to scared to adjsut the silencor and make it quieter as i dont want to hurt the engine lmaoo. So i want decent deep sound but also minimal loss of performance without a ridiculously loud cannon lmaoo.

well personally i wouldnt but any of the crap chinese brands like "xforce", they arent even legal, xforce states that theirs are for "off road use only". Personally i would be going for a "metal cat" but they are round the $400 mark, so it really depends on how much you wanna spend.

Cannons are loud, the cat will act like a muffler (quieten it down a bit) but not massively.

If i was you, i would buy cat (good quality), get it installed see how you like the sound and then change the piping resonator or cannon, if necessary from there.

I have heard some good things about magna flow but i have not done much research on them so cant really tell you much. A lot cheaper too, but that does make me a little skeptical. not sure whether its genuine or not

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/3-MAGNAFLOW-HIGH ... m153.l1262

But as i say i have heard a few good things but some of hte other guys may be able to shed some light on the brand failing. Just do a bennoz and JFGI

i reckon you should do the extractors was well. There should be no problem with hving no cat and a cannon. I dont hve a muffler in there at the moment. And how did you mechanic tell if it ws stainless?. Did he use a magnet? Im running a metalcat and its heaps good. I did get it done with the extractors though.

I'd get it fixed quick... FYI the fine for no cat is $10,000 with option of jail time.

Also yo will not do any damage by adjusting silencer or even by having one there
