if you have full comp, and your car is a write off:
your insurance company will pay you out the market/agreed value of your car, less any applicable excess (age, unremovalble driver + whatever else they have stated in your certificate of insurace), and less whatever you still owe them for the policy (only applies if you pay by the month, or for whatever reason you owe them money). and they will take your car and whatever left on your rego off you.
your insurance company will try to recover whatever money they can:
i.e. take whatever is left on your rego and get the refund off the government. and sell your car off to a wreckers or auction it off, either as a repairable write off or as scrap (obviously depending on the dmg)

make sure you take all your personal belongings off the car, and any aftermarket parts that's not listed on your certificate of insurance, sometimes they will bitch about it, but you should be able to get away with it provided you replace them with stock parts
you may be able to buy the wreck back off your insurance company if you wish to do so, call them and ask.

hope that helps :)

and as with your foot, sorry to hear about it... but you may be able to claim it on your CPT (depends on which company you went with for that, most will only cover third parties, but i do remember hearing ads for 1 company that apparently covers the at fault driver for something as well), once again it doesnt hurt to ask.

Mate, as having just go through the 'f**k I think shes smashed' stage, I know how you feel. The good new is that you were fully insured, and you're going to get enough to recouperate.

Sucks man, but don't dwell on it too much

I do have racing pedals, i havnt rang the insurance company yet. the car also has 18's and whats left of a bodykit. the insurance company doesnt know this. should i recover my things first ? cd player etc

Put it back to stock ....

Get normal rims on it, but make sure they have tread ... You don't want to replace things that could cause complications on the claim....

Body kit is no drama, as it should make no difference to the claim as it was like it when you bought it .... They will just give you the agreed value, and you wont be able to claim extra to have the kit replaced and put on the new one (if you were replacing with another FTO) ...

Wheels should be ok (but you should check with the some of the aussie boys there rules are a bit deferent to what im used to) but if you still have the stock rims then i would swap them over just so you can get some money from them or put them on another car (if they are in good nick). Cd player, speakers subs etc. pull out but just remember if you pull something out then you have to replace it. What about steering wheel? Remove anything dangling from your rear vision mirror. Turn down the radio if its loud and can be

MOST IMPORTANT: get those pedals off, i know of 2 mates who have had there claimes denied because of them.

No the factory ones will be underneath. After market pedals usually just fit over the top. You most probably need a small allan key to remove them and a pair of side cutters

I'm pretty sure you have to report an accident to the insurance cover within 24 hours for them to cover you.. so whatever it is you're gonna do, make sure you at least call your insurance company first.

Sorry to hear.. but this is the problem with people who just got their license buying fto's or any sports cars, kinda get a bit carried away, but guess that's human nature and can't really be helped.
