howdy folks,
just wondering if there are any fans of the UFC here,
(Ultimate Fighting Championship for those that don't know)
and if there's enough people i might start up a tipping comp here for the next UFC event.
tipping comp would be either -
Winner? - Round number/Judges decision? - Via knockout/submission?
OR
betting with $1000
pretend cash on whatever the current odds are
let me know your thoughts
The next event - UFC 85 BEDLAM - is only 2 weeks away

dude did you see Keith Jardine get ABSOLUTELY DESTROYED yesterday???
looks like i can count you in
yep, Anderson Silva is pound-for-pound the best fighter on the planet.
gotta feel sorry for Rich Franklin though...
he'd be the best middle weight in the world if it wasn't for the spider.

lol... then you'll be pleased to know Matt Hughes is in the main event of the next card
(unfortunately he's gonna be a pretty heavy favorite)
i agree with you 100%... the guy is a total pr!ck
as for Randy Couture...
he's severed all ties with UFC and vacated the heavyweight title,
he wanted to fight Fedor Emelianenko (one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time)
but UFC couldn't sign him, so he quit

st pierre would have to come up a weight division to fight Silva...
and even if it was the other way around i'd STILL pick Silva!
the guy is just ridiculously talented.
the fight i'd LOVE to see would be Silva stepping up a weight class
and taking on Rampage Jackson... that would be insane
Silva may have to consider stepping up a class soon,
because he's gonna run out of opponents at middleweight.
i'm guessing the winner of Bisping vs "Dooms" Day at UFC 85
will become number 1 contender... Bisping vs Silva would be worth seeing
as for Mayweather... the guy is a tool
he reminds me of how much Mundine used to mouth off,
only Mundine has been punched in the head so often he doesn't talk too well anymore

So how is this going to work, what are picking. I say we just make it easy and go for "WHO EVER WINS" and bet (pretend money) accordingly.

cool, well go for the play money bets...
* $1,000 to play with
* Minimum 3 picks
* Maximum 6 picks
* Bets to be rounded to the nearest $100
the odds are as follows -
Thiago Alves +175
Matt Hughes -225
Fabricio Werdum +105
Brandon Vera -125
Thales Leites +130
Nate Marquardt -150
Michael Bisping -340
Jason Day +280
Jorge Rivera +200
Martin Kampmann -260
Marcus Davis -105
Mike Swick -115
Luiz Cane +105
Jason Lambert -135
Thiago Tavares -425
Matt Wiman +340
Ryo Chonan -135
Roan Carniero +115
Jess Liaudin +200
Paul Taylor -260
Neil Wain +290
Antoni Hardonk -380
for those not familiar with the US odds system,
a plus sign indicates how much you'd get back if you bet $100
a minus sign shows how much you'd have to bet to win $100
easiest way to think of it is this -
minus = favorite... the higher the number, the shorter the odds
(eg. Thiago Tavares -425 is a MASSIVE favorite)
plus = outsider... the higher the number, the more of a longshot
(eg. Matt Wiman +340 is a huge longshot, the person most likely to be destroyed)

So in you example if I bet $425 on Thiago Tavares to win and he did i would recieve $100
is that correct?

correctamundo
you'd win $100 plus your original $425 back = $525
whereas Matt Wiman is +340 so if you bet $100
you'd win $340 plus your original $100 back = $440

eg. $200 on Fighter A / $300 on Fighter B / $500 on Fighter C
i don't wanna have to calculate the return on $237.85 @ -345
mike swick is the slight favorite... but just barely,
should be a really even match up

nice choices... i'm thinkin of putting my cash on Vera as well
...but unless my maths is off, you've still got $200 left to bet with
here are my tips -
$300 on Martin Kampmann
$300 on Michael Bisping
$200 on Brandon Vera
$100 on Jess Liaudin
$100 on Matt Wiman

oh yeah i thought it would be like poker, whatever we finish with after this round, we take to the next round. is that making any sense? But if its going to be we get $1000 every round then i will increas me bets

nah, we'll just work on the basis of $1,000 per event
and p!ss the lot up the wall quicker than sam on a turbo project
the only thing you can take to the next round (possibly)
is the title of
FTO AUS CURRENT UFC BETTING CHAMPION!
