Window allignment

As some people here know, a while ago i broke my driver side window, and not its all repaired and everything, but i still have the problem, when i push the button for the window to go up (on automatic) it goes up, hits the top and then comes back down half way.

So, why do i bring this up about 1 month after it happened, well, i finally had the time to go to mitsubishi and they said its either something wrong with the motor (which it obviously isnt, since it works), or its either something to do with the alligment (in my opinion). They told mm it would cost about $400-600 for the motor, and im not paying that, because there is nothing wrong with the motor.

So, now my question, does anyone know what i can do to be able to stop the window from coming back down after i press it to go up. The problem is when i push the window button for it to go automatically up. Other then that, if i do it slowly manually i can get the window to close, but this is a pain. Can anyone help ?

Just noticed this should be in the help section. Sorry.

One of the guys at the DIY day had this problem too ... was it lwryda ... ???

Anyway, yeah it could be a couple of things... I really doubt it is the motor .. I would try the following:

Get a DMM and put it on the window, and see what happens when it hits the top .. The window is meant to break the negative circut when the window hits the top, or feels the pressure to say it is closed.

Pull off the door trim and play around with the bolts that line up the window... Maybe slide the bolt down a bit ... A note on this is that it is easier to adjust the bolts when the window is fully down ... Took a while with me playing with AJ's ... Hope his is still fixed

Another thing i would do, is get another drivers side control unit. Just in case it is that which is causing the error... But, just see if you can borrow someone's ... I don't think this would be the error, so don't waste your money on it ...

To give you a little example of how the window works .... When you hit the button, it changes the circut, and puts a negative current through the device... The window knows that when it hits negative, it has to go up until it hits the pressure where the window can not go further... It then stops putting any power to the circut, and thus closes the window... Whine you go to put it down, it then runs a positive trigger through the circut to tell it to go down ... Once again, when it gets to the point that it can not go down further, it stops and breaks the circut ...

I can't actually remember if it is positive for down and negative for up, but you can see how it works... It also can be possible that after the window is up, it is mean to let it drop a litte, so that the glass will fit under the rubber when you close the door ... Yours could be sending that trigger for too long, which is why the window continues to go down ...

WRONG..in my situation anyway !!!

Im so happy i finally fixed it :D ..AND i bet no one would have ever guessed the problem....

no one ? Well i was mucking around hitting things trying to make it work, but had no luck. Then i thought to myself, what if the windows motor doesnt have to be plugged in ? so i disconnected it and it works perfectly now.....

sounds very stupid, but i got the window wire just hanging around now inside the door, but i dont care, it works perfectly without it connected. It actually stops where its meant to now, instead of coming back down half way on the automatic push.

but now the safety feature probrably won't work.

so basically, if someone gets a hand or finger stuck in there while it's going back up automatically, then...........it sucks to be them.
