Make Model Year Question

GDay All,

Please dont laugh at this, but I assure you its coshure.

Im after an input speed sensor and the only place to get one is at CAMSKILL web site in the UK. Tried everywhere here in Adelaide and made calls to Sydney as well.

Anyway, The CAMSKILL site has two types. One that is up to 09/95, and one from 10/95 onwards.

I went to my wife's car and looked at the VIN plates and all it says is that its a 1995 year - no month mentioned ANYWHERE.

Hence my question is, is there another way by looking at the mechanics of the car that I can determine the month of the car, or whether its pre 09/95 or post 10/95.

The make/model is GPX 1995 6A12 DE3A

Another option is to take it out and have a look at the plugs given that both the above types are different. Id prefer not to do this as I have a hard enough time trying to get the car in the first place to look at.

PS - I have used the search engine here and didnt have much luck.

Look forward to any help

Thanks
Tom

If you tell us the whole chassis number (the bit that starts with "6A12DE3A") someone with CAPS should be able to tell you the build date.

I have a DE3A number e.g. DE3A-XXXXXXX. (xxxxxxx are 7 numbers)

I read somewhere its not a good idea to advertise such numbers on the net - is this so ??
cheers

i think the year and month is on the side part of the car (where the door closes to)...open the door and have a look, there should be a sticker or something...thats where my mechanic found my one when he was doing my pink slip.

If you send me a PM, ill give you your month. Not only that, I should be able to tell you the correct part number for your car

All I can say is that its a project Ive been working on my Wife's FTO for the last 4 months, and the web page is so long with info and photos that it requires a "contents section" at the top of the page so as to structure it in an orderly fashion. Its essentially an ultimate DIY (in my view) of a particular project for a FTO.

Suffice to say that given the amount of info I have obtained from this site in working on my wife's car, I just thought it prudent that I should pay back something, big time !!.

dstocks has been of great assistance to me in the past, I have never met him, nor he me, but his genuine help also deserves recognition from me, hence he has first dibs on my project, so as to primarily house it there (given that the write up is so huge).

Expected completion date is end of May 2008.

Now Im sure I have wet your appetites, and trust me when I say you will enjoy the write up, as I have to date enjoyed the project and its html compilation - just counted the images on the web page Ive written and the tally is 122 small images which get blown out to larger ones when clicked, and I recon that I still have another 40 progression type photos to take as part of the install.

Well thats it - wait till May !! :-) you can guess but my lips are sealed, for now !! :-)

cheers
Tom

seems really really massive....one question though...has it been done before ?

Parts of it have been done, where as others have not. To those parts that have been done, more technical info is highlighted and also have photos so as to better show people the plot. :-)

As per my previous quote or mention
Expected completion date is end of May 2008.
I have one more component to work on and make a decision on another (due to costs - $330 AUD) and I'll be ready for the final display. Dsotcks gets it on veritas first !! :) as I will owe him for his help - I believe in owing where its owed ans he is cool big time !! Either way you'lle get it anyway.

Cheers
