hey man, id say if no one has answered you yet they dont know. What happens though is car manufacturers use certain parts for all models even though certain models dont have that option. Your best bet (if you really really have to know) is to try and trace it back but even then you still may not ever find out what is for. My suggestion is tuck it back where you found it and forget about it

Actually, the electrical manual has all the loom info in it. Youd probably be able to work it out from that

There are a few cables under the dash that don't need to be (or physically can't) be plugged into anything, when I put my dash back together the other week there were a couple of connectors / wiring looms that were left over & I labelled everything, so the ones with no labels were never actually plugged in to begin with.

One of them was under the glovebox.. I believe it was the same one as that. The other I think was under the steering column.

I think I8A-FRE got it right, they're most likely for options that you don't have on your car.. and most of the wiring on that side of the car is ECU related .. so maybe its sposed to be for ABS or something & you might not have that feature.
And yes, I would suggest the same thing (If there are no problems with your car - i.e. its not in limp mode & all electronics are working etc) - tuck it back where you found it & forget about it ;)

thats ok i will tuck it back in.

just got me very curious as i am a neat freak when it comes to my cars n to have that there drove me crazy.

yeh just having problems with my fto sign on my door sills not lighting up, my fog lights not turning on but apart from that everything seems to work fine.

Your fog light switch has probably burnt out (common problem) You'll need to take out the instrument cluster surround - theres a few screws, then you can pull it out, then check the connector plug for the fog light switch to see if its melted.. & either buy a replacement fog light switch & connector from an FTO Wreckers - can be anywhere between $20-50

The door sills are another story .. check all your fuses first & trace back the little red/black wires to see if they're still plugged in.. - you might need to take out some of the interior foot-well panels - if there are still no probs, check the little circuit board that the wires connect to (driver side foot-well near the fuses) to see if that has any capacitors blown or any other damage etc
If all else fails you might have to wire them into the door light circuit - or get an auto electrician to take a look at it..

aye, grab yourself a circuit tester - should be about $5 or so from Supercheap / Bunnings
