im planing on purchasing a Jap brand exhaust, what do you guys recomend?
Id like it not to be really loud...

honestly i wouldn't waste my money on them when you can get better quality custom built stuff in australia.

looks like you are more brand conscious than anything else, which is OK by me but if you really must, then the HKS Superdrager is prob the most quiet one... (but also very expensive)

if you want the cannon-type muffler, the 5Zigen Fireball would be definite pick coz nothing else out there in the market sounds anything like it... i love it so much in fact that I'm reverting back to it (that's right, anybody wanna buy my carbonfibre/titanium muffler?? )

most of the Jap exhausts are actually pretty loud so i would either get a silencer to suit or fit a resonator to lower the decibels a bit...

the only reason why i thought it might be good to go with a japanese brand, is cos theyve done research and fitted them to the FTO.

What do you reccomend if i go local?

5zigen sounds good, is it under the Decebel limit?

actually this is incorrect. i've seen APEXI N1's pulled apart in the past and they are actually more restrictive than the stock ones on a FTO. ALSO they are mild steel with a stainless coating making them even heavier.

if you go local, goto a respected performance exhaust company and ask them to quote on building you a proper setup. for example my setup is a highflow 7litre cat with a custom made muffler from this little old man in woollongong (or somewhere like that can't remember now had it on for 3 years) who builds exhausts for race cars.

and it works a treat exactly what i wanted, not too noisy when driving normally and no power loss (incidentally its really loud when i put my foot to the floor).

I'm not sure if the 5zigen is under the decibel limit because i never tested it with EPA but i'm quite certain it's OK (after i listened to MADFTO's exhaust which is only right on the legal limit!)

local offerings are aplenty: lambros, hitech, hypertech, just look up any import/car mags (ie: HPI, Hot4s, Zoom, FastFours etc) andthey'll have ads to cater...

i know i should be going for mandrel bent,
but what diameter? 2.5 2.25 ?

I want to in the future get that UAS front pipe too, so should i be upgrading my CAT too?

this is where it gets interesting.

Some people say 2.5 Inch others 2.25 inch, i don't think it makes much difference as long as the exahust is properly constructed and there are no restrictions.

on the CAT / Muffler thing its cheaper to get it all done at the same time. a good quality high flow cat will cost you about 280.00 + fitting.

Mandrel bent is a must.!.

We've found fitting the Unique Exhaust that there are a lot of really cheap shitting CAT's out there i would recommend buying this and taking it along to get it fitted at the same time so to make sure everything works properly. if you do it whilst the whole exahust is apart it'll only be another 30mins of mechanic time to install it max.

Hmmmmm i've read few product test with exhuast & hi flow cat on N/A in couple of performance mag.

And the result are either no performance gain & with one product, it lost 8kw after installation But then again, every car is different....

Spoon, one of the biggest aftermarket company in jap, but they mainly do Honda.

I wouldnt touch the HKS for love or money..They have a stainless construction but the internal baffles are mild steel which through time rot and start rattling inside the backbox--very few people over here in the UK would touch them.Camskill have made up a replica which has stainless baffles which seems much better and no problems so far...If i had the moey and Apexi N1 would be on my car just for the sound--they sound fantastic....Not sure how good their construction actually is though...

no i don't remember sorry, i've had it on my car for years now.

the titanium ones have a different sound and are very light weight, they can't be welded onto an existing system (as titanium is a pain in the arse to weld) so they come with a flange.

well mine is the most expensive from the top name brands (pro-shop iida) with 1 5 zigen fireball muffler (bought and fitted in japan(previous owner)).

ps the fireball is deffinetely illegal.......i had to put a resonator to make it quite

Very nice set-up. Wouldn't buy it if i had the money though........over $2 500!!!!!
