Its also making a nasty whinning/Grinding noise that sounds like bearings. My auto Electrician said $200 for Regulator and another $100 for bearing and another $100 for labour. Thats a $400 alternator!!!not including paying my mechanic $160 to get the little barstard out!!
Anyone know a place that sells new ones? or of a substitute (ie. outta a lancer?). Even if i have to modify the wiring thats fine. as long as it physically fits...

Or would anyone know the dimensions of the unit? I dont wanna spend heaps on getting it out just to measure the barstard.

Or last option is does anyone know a wreckers with an FTO?

I wanna know how many posts you start with the word 'righto' In fact I could probably look that up

My first post:

Just did a brake upgrade on my GR.

Went and bought some nice vented rotors (GPX) from the UK (Camskill)
and all you gotta do is pull your GR calipers off & put the GPX
calipers on... They bolt straight onto the same hubs. Stops on a dime
I tells ya!

My Mods: Nothing yet......oh but just you wait

Why i say no mods its because i just put in a brand new 2-dinn in dash dvd player, speakers, and amp. Then after 3 days some jerk broke and stole the dvd player and the tweeters. Thats not the worst part though instead of using a screwdriver it looks as though they used a hammer. they broke all my dash from under the a/c controls right to the surround around the shifter stick.

If anyone knows where i can find dash parts i would be greatly thankful

Haha i couldnt even do the bold thing right

Is there a way to turn this off?

And is there a way to turn the reading lamps off when you have a door open ?

lol, bloody good idea Sam ;) 'tis weird reading all my old posts..
I wouldn't go up any more than 17"s on an FTO. I saw a few of them with 18"s while i was shopping around, and they were rubbing against the inside of the guards and wearing unevenly, even with low profile tyres... it could possibly be corrected by adjusting the suspension, or lowering like others have said... though, I decided it would be too much dollars, and hassle to get them to behave like they should.
hope this helps.

aye & bye

yes, i am only 14, no im not a total n00b...i do know 'Some' things about the FTO...
anyway, To the question!
if i were to buy an FTO GPR, with the Tiptronic auto, what if the original owner(s) were really lax drivers?..like, is there anyway to reset it so i can have the power when i want it?
And, while im here, if there is an aftermarket way to reset it, are there any consequences with doing so?

other than that, i hope to enjoy browsing the Forums, and getting some much needed info on actually owning an FTO..
Thanks for your time,
Chizz.

me! wrote:Hi guys,

sorry to bring up an old thread, but I just recently bought my FTO and the tacho was not working from the start.

I already fixed the central locking (since I got the car on tuesday) - used the DIY guide to pull the doors apart and have a look at what was up... whoever installed the aftermarket alarm had put the central locking motor onto the door handle rod, not the locking mechanism. You'd think if you knew enough about cars to pull the door trim off and make merry with the central locking, then you'd be able to read the instructions and do it properly...

Anyway, I need to have my tacho looked at. Do you think the ignition sensor is a likely culprit, and is there anything I can do myself to check? I'm not particularly car-minded (yet) but if I can have a go and save some money myself, great.
Lol I've got the exact same problem now... at least I know what it is!

RallyMad wrote:Hi everyone, you'll actually find that it all depends on how you drive too. Push way too hot into a corner and any car will under steer, this knowledge comes from driving formula fords.

I don't know much about FTO's cause I haven't bought mine yet, so thanks for all these thoughts, their teaching me a lot.

However my TX3 rally car has a front strut brace and a 30mm front sway bar, it's huge. I've got nothing in the rear, and I can tell you it definately doens't understeer, only digs in and turns hard under acceleration.
Wow, this is a longgg time ago.

Its still under warranty so if it is playing up I want to report it now and get them to pay for the repairs..
