Possible to hit the rear bumper?

Reason I ask is I got hit i guess from some idiot reversing and the rear bumper now has a dent in it. How do I fix this problem? I thought about taking a soft mallet and wacking it back into shape but I know fibreglass/plastic is brittle. The damage isnt that noticeable but under sunlight it sticks out soo much.
Suggestions?

I have been told for something like this...to get a towel and fold it up, then use a soft mallet and hit it lightly....although i would wait until someone who has actually tried this to help out...thats just how i think/been told it is done.

Hair dryer or heat gun. Dont overheat it though

dstocks could you elaborate on that please? So I would just heat up the affected area?

take the bumper off the car, use a heatgun from the inside (NOT on the paint side) to heat it up a little so the plastic can flex back out, rather than crack.
the towel method is for metal.

excellent. Can I use a hairdryer instead? And all I can see is three screws when I open the boot. Do I undo these to take off the rear bar? I have no clue as to how to take the dam thing off.

yeah you can use a hairdryer instead , once its heated up, wrap a towel around your hands or wear oven mits & just push out the dent ..just rub it until its smooth..

Another question. I have an M80S alarm system and its got the boot alarm, so if someone tries to pry open the boot, the alarm will go off. Just wondering if i take off the rear bar, will this stuff up the alarm?
And where would the wire or ultrasound sensor be for the boot alarm?
Thanks

with mine the wire is attached to the switch that controlls the boot light.
it's located in the boots lock mechanism and is a small white button.
