Australian Standard Immobiliser

Hi guys,
How does one find out if the car has an Australian Standard Immobilizer?
I have key less entry and see a red light flashing near my steering wheel. Usually one has to use an immobilizer key to de-activate the immobilizer.
I wanna make sure, as I am taking comprehensive insurance with Just car....and their policy states the car needs a Aust Std Immobilizer(mandatory).
Sorry for such a silly question.

Have a look a what brand and model it is. either look behind the kickpanel by the accelarator (or above it). Or even sometimes they will have it printed on the siren underneath your bonnet. Failing that just take it to a place that installs them and ask them to find out for you they shouldnt charge you

JC requires proof it was installed by a licensed professional if you have to make a claim - ie through a receipt or certificate of installation.

Thanks guys..I have not had a chance to look for the signs mentioned by I8AFRE..

But the alarm and immobilizer came with the car..and there is no receipt for the alarm installation...does it mean..I have to get a new one installed..for claims purpose? doesn't make sense...

what is it meant to look like ? what is the "siren" underneath the bonnet ? what does a siren have to do with an immobiliser ? Im not sure if my car has an immobiliser, but i am also wanting to know if it does ! any more help would be appreciatied..

Someone may correct me but I can't think of any immobilisers that aren't alarms as well
Aftermarket units anyway.

cars can just have immobilisers without an alarm most times its from factory

This is a reason why when you buy a car, you should insist on receipts or documentation to prove stuff was done. You might have an immobiliser but it may not be Australian Standards approved. Or you might have a standards approved one which was installed by someone in their backyard..a good alarm is nothing if it hasn't been installed properly.
Talk to Just Cars then, see what they will accept. When I made a theft claim with them a few years ago, they would not go ahead with the claim unless I showed them a receipt from the alarm installation.
