Cruise/mini meet idea......

So i was down in Canberra on saturday and started my drive back to sydney in the late afternoon.... picture nice sunny day, not to hot, not to cold, windows down stereo up and enjoying not having to stop and start every 2 seconds for traffic lights, not too mention decent roads!

As you do on a lengthy boring highway drive my mind started to wander and started to think about cruises and gatherings and thought of a novel way to spend a cruise day.
Now if anyones read 'Hovercar Racer' by Matthew Reilly you'll spot the similarities.
And i had canberra in mind for this:

Meet up in the morning at a pre designated spot and each car is given a list of servos and a map of canberra with their position marked, each servo is given a low score (ie 10points) for those closest to the start and high scores for those furthest away (100 points) with scores vairing at each servo in between the lowest scoring and the highest. At each of the servos you buy something (pack of gum) and ask for a receipt to prove that you were there in that time frame and continue on around the 'course'
Drivers have a 2 hour time limit and passengers or "navigators" are allowed, only 1 visit per servo, any route can be taken. Normal road rules apply and if you get caught speeding then its your fault and in no way connected to the club. A loss of 10 points will occur for every minute over the time limit it takes a driver to return to the start. Once all drivers are in scores are tallied in accordance with the reciepts they have gatherd allong the way. A winner is declared, a trophy givie and if theirs enough people from each state, a winning state.
Then after that head out for a cruise around our nations capital...

So anyway that occupied my thoughts for the majority of my drive home, what does everyone think of my mind ramblings?

few things i dont get....do we do the servo thing when we get to canberra ? how do you determine the number of points....i assume not all servos are marked in street directory's, and how would you determine the actual distance from start to furthers servo ? who will be paying for petrol...

The servo thing would be done in canberra once everyone whos doing it is at a pre determined meeting point

The number of points would be assigned to the servo in accordance with their proximity of the start/finish point

the servos that you have a choice of going too would be marked on the map and on the list. You wouldnt be able to get to all of them within the time limit, thats where your navigators would come into play

determining distance would already be worked out and on the list (thank you TomTom)

paying for petrol....ummmmmm whats that over there.......

Another idea was not pre determining the servos you could visit instead taking the last 2 digits of the post code on the reciept and added them up at the end.

Like i said random thoughts on a drive home that could be something a little different to do
