Veilside skirt affects on performance

I'm very interested in the veilside side skirts, the ones that come up at the rear end of the doors and look like the common ones seen on supras..
However, looking at the rear end of the skirts gives me the image of wind getting trapped in there when i'm driving at high speed. Would the pockets on the sideskirts slow down the car since it can catch wind?
This has been bothering me..

), yes i believe it can cause a lot of turbulence at high speed and create more drag because it is trapping oncoming airflow...
btw they're not Veilside skirts, i think it's called Top Mix or something dodgy...

I knew someone would make a comment, and I figured it would be you!
My answer would be, who buys a veilside kit for the way it makes their car perform, isn't it for the looks?

Yeh the TopMix side skirts. I think they look great and want them on my car.
But i wont get em if they will affect the performance..especially more than other skirts.
If its not a big deal then i will go ahead with em.

ellusion, it really isn't going to make that much difference, if you like the look of them and have the money, get them

Chances are that unless a body kit has been designed specifically for the purpose of lowering the drag, it will be increasing it. I have not done any research (and am not going to) into after market body kits and their effects. But as a general statement, the wings and skirts are fairly generic and look roughly the same regardless of what car they are on. This indicates that they are not adjusted indvidually for the aerodynamics of each car, hence I doubt very much they would help with drag, but at the same time, it's not going to make a huge difference to your performance, so I wouldn't be worrying about it.
Most kits are for looks, not performance, unless the manufacturer goes into great detail about the aerodynamic differences it will make and can quote CD (drag coefficient) figures. For this would need to have gone to a lot of expense will wind tunnel testing etc. Why bother, when they sell them primarly based on their looks?
P.S.
Mikey, unless your body kit looks like that of the FTO-EV (Electric-Vehicle) then it will probably be increasing drag. Damn ugly and you certainly won't be able to drive it on the road!

Note the smooth and low side skirts, the rear panels and the absence of spoiler!
