I put the car into the shop a few weeks back to get new spark plugs, timing belt etc just wear and tear stuff (oh and a new high flow cat and 3 inch exhaust

)
after i got it back there were a few times it was an effort to start and sure enough last night it refused to even try.
got the nrma out there and im up for a new starter motor, the guy tells me this is ok coz they can do em on site these days and im feeling a lot better, so we look at the book for the part and i get the same ol goggo mobile treatment i got when they quoted me insurance
him :"so what is it?"
me: "an FTO"
him: "whats it called in AUS"
me: "an FTO"
im surprised he didnt ask me to spell it.....
so im shot down and we get a tow truck.
does anyone know if there is another car that uses the same one?
i was thinking magna or somthing but they dont come in 2L

3 inch exhaust??? why.... you'll be loosing power... 2.5" is plenty...
And i've been through this... there's no easy fix... get your current one reco'd....

Or call Mitsubishi for the starter. Part No: MD341386.
Common to both FTO's & other model Mitsi's so shouldn't get hit with grey import markups.

well i got the call today and whatever was wrong with it is not fixable or replaceable so ill be getting a whole new one....somehow a hole one is sitting there ready to go but parts for this will just never be available, so its 400 plus labour.
add this to my 250 rego, 650 ctp, 2116 comp ins, 1105 for repairs and new cat and 301 to have her looked at and towed. so ive spent 4500 in 2 weeks
and i soooo wanted those new side skirts

Nope, even the parts retailer get stung these prices. Its very much dictated from the very top of the food chain. I've contemplated taking the matter up with them, but never really had the time.
Its a proven system of robbery thou, I was quoted $400 for a clutch slave cylinder, ended up buying it from Mitsi in NZ for $80

just got her back and ended up costing $528 inc labour.
not cheap but time was the big factor here and it really makes a noticeable difference but i also noticed that my batt indicator is sitting higher than before....was wondering why this might be?
used to be about 13 and now is at about 15.
