Adjusting Tappets(I think thats how its spelt)

Hey guys, as some are aware, my tappets have been a little noisy lately due to a previous mechanic who had little to none experience in FTOs.

Ive now gone to two mechanics, Pulse Racing and IS Motor Racing, one quoted $450 for the job of adjusting tappets and the other $200.

Any opinion guys?! That a good price?!

cheers =]

was Pulse the one who quoted you $450 ?

I have been to a few mechanics who either told me they couldn't be done, they can't be adjusted all the way through to a mechanic who said i needed an engine rebuild.

They aren't that bad and the Motul oil has helped but i still wouldn't mind getting them done.

Please do, will be very interested as to how it turns out given the big price difference between the two workshops.

Where are IS Racing located at ?

It is located in Rockdale, i first found out about the place off a thread in the NSW forum,

fto617 said "try IS Motor racing down at Rockdale
they know about FTOs inside out since the day they were heaps rare
but now days, Evos and GTRs are like camrys that appear so often there"

=]

so took the advice, rang around, chose them and will hope for the best! (=

i just got mine done by Mayan at Maytech and the engine has gone heaps more quieter now, but not totally silent due to the wear that my engine had previous he couldnt adjust it to the right measurements but i guess maybe abit thicker oil should do it. But yeah Mayans a good guy, gets the job done, his a perfectionist by the way, lol
