Another fuel topic...

Basically today i realised a difference in my car noise after i filled up different petrol. Normally i would fill up Shell V-Power, but today it was closer to fill up at BP, so i put in half a tank of BP Ultimate and noticed the car sounds smoother (if that makes sense)...and in a way is louder (in a good way). Has anyone sensed this after filling up different type of petrol in their car ?

Everytime i fill up, when pull out of the servo I can feel the smoothness in the ride.

I used to find that shell fuel was the most powerful but also the most dirty and that BP ultimate was a good compromise. So as for noticing different quality in fuels...yes. Worse i ever had was mobil 98 octane. Must've been a bad batch or something but for the fto to sustain 110km on the freeway, i had to be ~35% throttle in 5th gear.

I haven't run mine on anything but BP Ultimate since I got it, if you ever want to see just how much of a difference it makes so get yourself some Safeway fuel in a different car, then run the same car on some ultimate. I generally feel like another 2000 rpm come from somewhere.

was using Shell 98 octane when I first got the FTO, stopped after 2 weeks cause it was crap ..
Started using BP ultimate & it was okay for a while, then I put in a tank of Caltex 98 octane & it was way smoother & felt like I got more power than the BP Ultimate..
I think I find that the Caltex/Woolworths petrol stations that offer the shopper docket discounts have shittier fuel than the Caltex stations that you pay full price..

For the last couple of weeks I've been running BP Ultimate, but only out of convenience cause the local non-woolworths owned Caltex closed down..

BP Ultimate FTW!!

Seriously though, I'd be doubtfull that you can notice THAT MUCH difference in the first tank after a switch... and if you only put in a half tank harry, then that's gonna dilute the difference in fuels even more.

Not saying you guys aren't right, just saying you should 'trial' each fuel for a couple of tanks before making your choices.

i guess it would dilute it a bit...but my tank was basically empty when i filled up my half tank...but im sure your right about the fuels mixing. But yeah, i honestly can feel a difference in the smoothness, and even the loudness of the car.

my tank always gets to empty before I refill it .. fuel does go bad, so i don't leave a lot in there before i fill up again..

as for changing my source of fuel, I only do so after the fuel light has come on & the tank should be nearly dry..

Dont forget

NEVER FILL UP WHEN THE REFILLING TRUCK IS AT THE PETROL STATION

Why? good question becuase all the contaminents in the fuel, sinks to the bottom of the large tanks in the ground at the petrol station. Then when the tankers arrive and start filling up the tanks they stir all the contaniments around so if your filling while they are doing this or shortly after then you will be putting all that etc sh*t in your tank

I changed to BP Ultimate a while ago from Woolies Caltex and won't be going back.

Mr Charisma I think your right. I think it has something to do with using old tanks for the Vortex 98. I think they use the old leaded tanks.

absolutely...don't tell me you've bought into that rubbish about it distroying your engine?! You know Holden who says E10 voids your warrenty sells the same commodores to Brazil marketed and run on E90 yes that means 90% ethonol.... same car. I've found it gives a very nice crisp throttle response.

OK it's not e90 its e85 and that's on trial in brasil and for us Aussy e85 will initially be available at two locations - one in Melbourne’s inner suburbs and another in the lower north shore suburbs of Sydney.
