Some minor annoying electrical problem..

hi guys...

just got my car back from major service (+ a little bit of modding)...and i tried wiring a 7"LCD head unit in.. after installation, there are now the following issues:

1. the head unit and speedo doesnt memorise settings, eg. bass & fade settings, and trip meter in the speedo etc.

2. my alarm gives a loud 4 beeps after i activate the alarm.

3. when car is off, and i open the door etc, the interior light doesn't come on.

4. atenna at rear stays up after car is off.

5. traction control light flashes when driving.

a bit of background info of my installation. After i hooked up all wiring, the unit doesn't turn on when switch on to accessory. The only way to have the unit working is to combine the accessory wire (red) and the permanent 12v (yellow) wire together. Do u guys think this has anything to do with the above problems i have.

My thinking is that the cars permanent power is not connected properly somehow....anyone have any idea how to solve this???

any advice appreciated ;)

Sounds like it could be a fuse. Check the ones under the steering wheel as well as the ones in the engine bay.

The permanent 12v source wiring for my headunit isn't wired up properly either, so it doesn't save settings either.

so yeah, you're right, it would be something to do with that .. not sure that joining the 2 wires together is such a good idea..

Did you use a wiring adapter/harness thingo for Mitsi's? Or did you try running all new wiring for it?

if its a fuse my bet is that its a 10amp one in the engine bay, probably number 4 according to this http://www.completefto.com.au/CompleteFTO.asp?aid=447

i had a sony headunit before, which the installer soldered all wires to the factory ones....and now i tried to put all new wires in molex plugs...(except the 12v, ground, acc, due to the problems i have...)

but...the fact that the damn thing doesn't memorise the settings are annoying....every time i start the car, the bloody air con starts blowing at 25 degrees, and the stupid 6x9 rear speakers are so loud that i cant hear a thing from the front components....so on...so on......summing up - annoying -.... plus the 4 loud beep (like a 100db) from my alarm every time i lock my car is quite embarrassing too...
