I'm pretty sure it wasn't the oil for the same reasons, the temperature wasn't hot and the oil light hadn't come on. I'm confident that I was rpming around 7500 or so, at 70mph in 3rd.
well how long were in 3rd gear at 7,500? i really hope you werent cruising at those rpms...
No more than 10 minutes. I'm surprised to hear you say that. I've always been told that the car runs best between 6500 and 7500.

70mph is about 110kph yeah ?
7500rpm in 3rd would put me a bit faster than that I'm guessing...

Have a friend who did the same thing, luckily in a RAV4 which isn't so expensive. And nothing wrong with it, amazingly, after 10 minutes or so of driving.
