What for? You got hot cams that need to be timed in somewhere other than TDC?

Then no, you dont need them

The only reason one goes & buy vernier adjustable cam gears is if one is putting in hot cams that cannot be completely timed electronically - Ie the cams need to be timed to a position other than Top Dead Centre, like 5 degrees advanced or whatever. So if your not changing cams, its just bling that you cant even see.

Well, if you're going for the crank & alternator pulley, and you got the coin, why not!

I dont know much about cam gears but how can you be sure the standard ones are spot on withint say 0.5 of a degree?

i didnt think you could get non adjustable ones that accurate, or is there something else electric going on? :?:

They are a machine finish join to the cam with extremely fine tolerances. Cam timing is pretty critical as you'd know. Out by half a degree could lead to a valve bashing a piston or equivalent. The vernier adjustable type have been round a long time, I've got a set on my mini (although is a timing chain system rather than a dry belt like the FTO.

Doubt it will make a difference! Most of the weight connected to the gear is inside the engine.

Hey, every little bit helps. You're doing everything you can to the engine anyways so may as well. See if you can get lightweight pulleys too and install an electric water pump system so you can remove the factory belt driven power sapping water pump. All of that should free up a few horses and more importantly make for a even snappier engine (read: faster response).
