Hey all,

My starter motor is pretty much gone. Just died yesterday, AFTER A MAJOR SERVICE AT K-Mart auto. Urghhhh... Was wondering how much it'd cost for a new one to be installed, roughly. I got quoted 300 for a recon'ed one, and I don't think that includes labour. And im 99% sure that's a rip off. If you could let me know how mcuh a new starter costs, or where you can buy them... let me know =] Thanks!

You're all getting screwed. $75 s/h from panelhouse, changed it myself. Took 30 minutes, its 2 bolts & a couple of wires.

Quick question, how come you didn't replace it for a new one? I see some ppl selling theres for like 90-150 on this website. Cheaper?

Ive got one (second hand) on a shelf in the shed down the coast I think.

Would take bugger all to fit I would think - usually just 2 bolts is it not

It should be 2 bolts. I was unlucky enough to have it blocked by the exhaust when I tried to take mine out

Maybe my problem is specific to MIVEC engines or Tiptronic transmissions
