A funny thing on the weekend happened on the weekend. It was Sunday like 3pm and i was watching TV and the car ALARM went off.

(Now in 2 years the ALARM has gone off once).

So I got up had a look at the car parked out the front of my house on the lorn it looked fine so I stopped the ALARM and went back to the TV.

It went of for the second time in a time span of 5min so got up had a good look stopped it and sat back down.

Now it went of like 5 more times so I went out side had a look at the car got in it and started it then moved it a meter or so got out put the ALARM back on and went in side.

And in no time soon it started again.

I guess it may have gone of 4 more time and I was think it was like malfunction. I didn't know what to do I was thinking I would have to go out to the car and DISARM the ALARM.

Then it hit me.

I know in the US you can buy ALARM code hopper scanner that scan to find the right code of the car OR just to find the one to set it off so you do go out and DISARM the ALARM because you think it maybe malfunctioning. ( have seen something like this on a TV show )

So I went out side and had a look around a did see a RED (sh*t box) parked in direct site of my car. But the funny thing it was parked where you can not park get this in the middle of a T intersection. So I walked down to the corner of the street had a good look ( EYE BALL THEM FROM 35 FEET) at the 2 guys in the car. I stood there for a min and walked back in side the house.

The RED (sh*t box) drove off and the ALARM has not gone off since.

should have bricked their windshield and slashed their tyre...then they would have learnt their lesson.

Paranoia is your only friend...

I'd be sleeping in my car for a few days if it had been mine!

thats why you always keep a few handy "tools" ;) in reach ! .... you should put car in garage (if you have one)...if not...surveilance system (a bit over the top...i agree..) but all for the protection of the car......

Gone in 20 Minutes: using laptops to steal cars

Found this on the net and I know it could have been just for the stereo.!!

High-tech thieves are becoming increasingly savvy when it comes to stealing automobiles equipped with keyless entry and ignition systems. While many computer-based security systems on automobiles require some type of key — mechanical or otherwise — to start the engine, so-called 'keyless' setups require only the presence of a key fob.

The expert gang suspected of stealing two of David Beckham's BMW X5 SUVs in the last six months did so by using software programs on a laptop to wirelessly break into the car's computer, open the doors, and start the engine.

"It's difficult to steal cars with complex security, but not impossible. There are weaknesses in any system," Tim Hart of the Auto Locksmith Association told the U.K.'s Auto Express magazine. "At key steps the car's software can halt progress for up to 20 minutes as part of its in-built protection," said Hart.

Because the decryption process can take a while — up to 20 minutes, according to Hart — the thieves usually wait to find the car in a secluded area where it will be left for a long period. That is believed to be what happened to Mr. Beckham — the crooks followed him to the mall where he was to have lunch, and went to work on his X5 after it was parked.

While automakers and locksmiths are supposed to be the only groups that know where and how security information is stored in a car, the information eventually falls into the wrong hands.

According to the Prague Post leaving such information on a laptop is what got Radko Sou?ek caught for stealing several cars. "You could delete all the data from your laptop, but that's not good for you because the more data you have, the bigger your possibilities," he says. He says any car that relies on software to provide security can be circumvented by other software. "Every car has its weak spot," he says. Sou?ek faces up to 12 years in prison.

The Leftlane Perspective: Many modern cars now rely on software entirely for security. Gone are the days where microchips supplemented mechanical locks as an additional security measure. In the case of true 'keyless' systems, software is the only thing between a thief and your car. As computers become more powerful, will stealing cars become even easier? Never mind future cars with better security — what about today's cars a few years down the road? With cars as inexpensive as the Toyota Camry offering entirely keyless systems, these concerns a relevant to all consumers.

Who cares, if someone wants to get in (or steal) bad enough they will find away, hters no point losing sleep over. Do you really think beckham gives a toss.... no cause he has insurance.....

So moral of the story get f&*ken insurance and constantly update as required 8)

It aint rocket science 8O

You're right of course. It's rocket surgery ;)

It's more about the inconvenience though I8AFRE, it's a @#$#@ing pain in the arse to get a car stollen, replacements don't happen overnight if you rely on it for commuting or some such. Also if you've got a highly modified car, it's just heart breaking.

Personally I feel you should have walked outside with a pen and paper and taken down their rego details. Maybe taken a photo of them too for good measure lol.

Oh baby you got me all wrong, do you not think that i would be heartbroken if my little princess was stolen..........F&^K yes i would be......... WHat im saying is im not gonna lose sleep over worring if its GONNA happen though. That doesnt mean leave your keys in it cause you got insurance, it means do all you can to eliminate the threat as much as possible......... then stop worring about it cause if someone wants it bad enough theres nothing you can do about.

My car got broken into about 14 months ago, they did more damage getting what they wanted than what the thing was worth. Thats why i shaved off my door locks.

i agree...although no one would want their car to be stolen...the fact of the matter is, if you have insurance, you can rest easy and not worry about it.....but i would not let these people get away if they try something like this next time ! If they try again, get their license plate numbers and give the police a call...or visit...whichever you prefer ;)

I doubt the police would do sh*t, unless someone stole your car and then did a burnout, then there will be 50 cop cars there

A cop'll step out from behind a tree at this stage. 8O

Reminds me of the story where I guy rang the cops up that someone had broken into his house and was right there then. 10 mins later no cops... so he rang back up and said it was ok as he'd shot the intruder... cops rocked up in like 3mins or something after that in force.

Someone can google for specifics... but I'm too lazy :P
