Plastic interior surround of the door

my one has kinda half torn off...its still in one piece but its kind of just hanging off !!! If you dont know what im talking about... its the plastic thing that goes around the inside of the car ..basically were the door closes to...the thing that goes around the interior of the door...
what should i do...mine is hanging off..should i glue it back with some sort of bonding glue ? any ideas ?

do you mean the rubber seals? around the windows?
If that's what you mean, it should just slot into place again ... just jam them into the grooves - it might be a bit hard to get it back in, but you'll get it ..
if it has actually "torn" then you'll need to replace it. Send a PM to 'DStocks' he might have a second hand one .. or give Mitsubishi a call.
If you meant something different, send pics - cause I'm not sure

its not ripped or anything..its just out of place and hanging freely (not the whole thing just a small part of it)...i have tried pushing it back in...but im not really sure what its meant to go in ? its got like some metal? on top of it that ii came out of and im not sure how its meant to go into it...

i just tried again to jam it in...it doesnt work...it seems to just keep falling loose !! ill try and get a pic up soon...

Yep,I put one back in on the weekend.
If you have a look on the back of the rubber bit it has a couple of grooves. The metal bit has the corrsponding slots. To get it into place you have to position the rubber so that it fits into one of the slots and twist it so that it clips into the other. This is really hard to explain (and im not doing a good job), but is easy to do one you have the knack. Short answer - no, dont glue it, have a look at the back of the rubber bit and the front of the metal bit and see how they fit together.

i can see the grooves on the metal piece..but there is no corresponding grooves on the rubber...i have literally tried every type of way of putting it back into place... i have tried an "in and out" pattern with the rubber into the metal grooves, i have even tried jamming it into any position....but it just doesnt seem to be working..any more suggestions ?

Kinda like that computer story... where the tech support guy couldn't get the guy to check the power cables because the guy couldn't see the power point in the middle of a blackout.

that story describes 99% of my customers
just spent half an hour explaining to one customer that a jpg
was too lo-res to get a good printed result...
so she re-saved the
exact same file as a bmp an e-mailed it

sorry to be rude...but any serious/plausible ideas about fixing this rubber problem ? please i dont even open my window anymore cos of this embarassment !!!

driving over to see dstocks WAS a serious idea... he obviously knows how to fix it.
...or just put up with it until the next club cruise and see if one of
our super-helpful FTO aus club members will take a crack at it for ya

driving to canberra is hardly a serious idea...i have a lot more things to do with my time !!! All i need is someone who knows what im dealing with and tell me how to fix it !!! I am sure i am not the first person this has happened to in 13 years of people owning the car !!!

I can't remember if i already posted this, but can't be bothered re-reading the thing..
it should just clip/slip/slot/slide/jam/squish etc into place .. the metal railing has the grooves that the rubber bit locks into ..its much easier to put back in if you work from the ends that are still in place ..
so unless the grooves are filled with glue, they should go back in after some effort..if the grooves are filled with glue, you will need to dissolve it & remove it.. how you do it depends on what type of glue you used - most of the time a nail polish remover (Acetone) will do the trick.. send FTOSam a PM if you need some & he will post it down to you

Dude its frustrating when someone doesnt answer your question staright away, i know. but dont get pissed off or otherwise ppl wont help you at all. just ignore them and someone will probably come along and help but it could take a few days and sometimes you may never get the answer your looking for (very very rarelly). I suggest (without being able to see) that if you have tried and tried to get back you got 2 options
1) buy another rubber and try that
2) Use a Polyurethane or sikaflex (supachaep, repco etc) to stick that rubber on.
Thats what the use to bond bodykits and sh*t so should definitly work but i highly recommend trying another rubber first, as if you ever need to pull it out again its gonna be a bitch

im not pissed off...i just find it irritating driving with that rubber hanging off...no matter now... i managed to fix it...i followed mr-charisma's advice...it wasnt the putting in the place that i wasnt doing...basically the grooves arent even important !!! all i needed to do was take another 10-20cm's extra off the metal then work from one end to the other just pushing it in with my thumb (using a fair bit of force)....the grooves are rubbish and shouldnt even be there...
