Woah, been so busy lately... but today i finally got a chance to detail my car. It's been crying out for it ever since i bought it a month ago. Previous owner must've washed it with sandpaper or something :?

Soon as i got to my cousins (for their carport/garage), took some photos. Car was dirty-ish with 3 week old Meg's nxt tech wax on it. Not too bad and it filled up some of the swirls nicely. Looked like this...

Started off with a wash and chamois dry then clayed the areas that needed it. Moved on to a light cutting compound that got rid of a lot of the swirls, followed by a layer of sealant/wax

After the sealant/wax got on, it was time for the carnauba wax...
Image

All done now...time for some obligatory reflection shots. Cannot put into words how smooth the paint was hehe. Shame it was overcast, couldn't get better shots but the shots give a good idea i think ?

And dropped into work afterwards and took some photos in the car park...

All up it took about 8 hours including a meal break etc. Was worth it though! Car still has swirls but much less now and nowhere near as deep. I'll get the rest next time...need to invest in a good random orbital first!

Come and do mine ...

Looks nice though ... I have always liked that colour ... When I was spraying the Evo, I was planning on that red or the blue I have now ... I was also thinking of the RX8 blue too ...

But yeah, ended up going with blue as it matched everything else on the car already ...

Thanks for the comments :)

Products used were Meguair's professional range swirl remover 2.0 on an orbital buffer with microfibre pad/cloth. Then Pinnacle clay, followed by Pinnacle liquid souveran (a polymer sealant and some carnauba wax) then finished with Pinnacle Souveran paste (a paste wax with oils and high % of carnauba wax).

If you do this once or twice a year followed by a good careful cleaning routine, your car will love you for it and it will show!

Rock_it,
Yeah the blue is nice! I was gonna get my car in blue but when i rang the dealer, they already sold it.. so i settled for red.. it is faster you know :P
I've seen the pics of your respray on your project, very nice colour! If you want any tips...let the paint cure for 3 weeks then sealant and wax or use a liquid wax if you're lazy hehe..

When the time comes I will PM ya about the best product... I have a really bad memory ... But, I don't have a buff, or pads... I guess it would be too hard to do by hand ....
