Does any-one know of a good auto electrician in the South-Eastern suburbs. Preferably one who can source those difficult to find regulators. My alternator seems to generating 11 volts instead of the required 13.5 volts so i want it looked at before I get a flat battery. I've disconnected the amp and stereo system to save power but will be installing a second amp/ head unit and subs once the power supply is back to normal. Any suggestions - anyone?

Get it reconditioned,
any auto elec can do it

Take the alternator off yourself and save most of the bill

Yeah, I will be reconditioning the old one yet again. It has been done twice by S&L Motors (aka Lee) but I have ended up getting a new one because three reco's in as many years is a bit much. Probably keep the old one for back up. The new one only cost $450 so it's not much more than the recondition cost and should be more relialable

Total cost inc labour was $600 but the alternator pumps out over 150 amps which I believe is more powerful than the original one I had and also meets all the specs for heat shielding etc so my amps are back up and running. Very happy with the end result
