A few questions about clear repeaters

Hey,

I think i may have found a cheap alternative for the clear repeaters, but am not sure about a few things..

Is there any law that says that indicators need to look like these ones?

OR... can they be completely clear lenses?
And what bulbs that they need to use? Are LED Clusters legally allowed as indicators?

Also, does anyone know what voltage they need to be? 12v? And what amperage?
if they're a lower amperage do I need to get a little unit that controls the rate at which they will 'Blink'? I've heard that LED's in particular will blink rapidly..

I will try to get some pics of the ones i'm thinking of using & post them up...

Can be clear, but need to flash orange, i.e. either a) orange lens, white globe or b) clear / white lens, orange globe.

Okay, I've just found the answer to one of my questions... the standard globes are 12V 5W ... this is looking very promising...

nah, not mx5 conversion... found some globes for which are a perfect fit for the indicators, they've got different colour reflective surfaces on the inside of the globe housing... the bulbs in them are 50w though, so i bought an LED indicator bulb cluster to replace the stocko bubls in it...

The globe housing should replace the entire indicator unit & mounting as well.... if i can use the old indicator bulbs it will be sweet and I'll return the LED Cluster...

mmm.. I am hoping that the globe i bought is going to be okay, it is red on the inside reflective part, but kind've an orangey red... there was a yellow gloe there, but hopefully with the yellow bulb it will be less red and more orange.. thats what I'm hoping.. dunno if this will even make sense until i post pics..

ok, was able to find a pic, they're not very good at showing the detail... the insides are more like a hologram & change colour depending on the angle you're looking at them... e.g. the red ones go from yellow to orange to red depending on what angle you're looking at them...

righto... so .... 'tis a no go.. cannot be done with these globes... i'm stupid lol, they're a complete glass unit, so can't take the bulb out or anything... there might be an LED one with 12V & 2-3Watt ... will need to use a flasher with it though..
