Just was at an Alberts sale and picked up a Supervision HID Kit for 299. they were 500 so not to bad.

i got a H1 (as im complied to h1 globes) - 6000K

is 6000K any good? - i know one of the guys who works there so i can swap it for a 8000K or other levels.

Anyone know much about Supervision as in the brand / quality.

I dunno about the brand but I was told 6000K was the brightest you can get. I got 12000K and they ain't that bright and kinda have a blueish/purple tint to them. 6000K should be a bright white colour.

Also I wouldn't go any over that as I rememeber reading somewhere that anything over 7000K is illegal (correct me if I'm wrong).

If you wanna swap, I'll trade you for 12000K as I would prefer more of a white colour.

hah yea i did see a 12000 there it said that they were purple-ish so i wanted to go the other way hence the 6000k

im not sure about legal limits etc? anyone shed some 'light' on the situation?!? oh that pun was definately intended...

I got the 6000k and very happy with them. Glad I didn't go any higher - they are white, but compared to everyone else's yellow lights they seem blue!

what did / should install approx coz me and is there a good spot for the ballast. i was told i need to find a good spot

Pretty easy to do yourself - the plugs on mine were pretty tight, so make sure they're in properly.

As for a spot for balast, where ever you can find really! Most come with a little brace for you to bolt on, otherwise the ever usefull cable ties are your friend. Tuck them out the way if you can so they don't get wet or tied to a place that gets very hot. Can't really go wrong.

all HID is illegal unless u have washers on the bumpe for them

As you guys can see why all OEM are 4300K.

HID are very cheap these days, as there are flood of cheap quality Made in China one. I would stick to either Japan, German, Korea and some Taiwan HID.

i noticed these HIDS on carmate.... but no idea if there any good so i just stayed away, would any of use know if they are good?

But your chart shows that the higher in K you go, the less lumens you get, so wouldn't that mean the colour does affect the brightness ?

6000 is still a bit blue imho. I'm planning to get some later but i'll be going for 4300, to maintain a natural yellow colour light. The higher in K you go, the harder it is for the average eye to differentiate between colours, objects will also seem flat and distance gauging becomes harder.

IMO cheap HID kits are rubbish. I've seen a couple on FTOs and there is an awful lot of reflected glare. I'd rather get decent halogen bulbs.

Pay for a decent kit and you'll get one with a good cut off. My mate bought a BJ Union one for nearly $900, but it's sharp as. Nothing beats the OEM ones though

Wonder if anyone on the UK has done a retrofit though? That would be sweet.

The higher the temperture doesn't mean the less lumens you get, Halogen lights (standard head lights) are around 3100K - 3200k and around 2500 lumens.

Quite a few people have fitted after markets kits to the FTO's in the UK. We have sold about 20 kits, and everyone loves them. I know a few other retailers that have sold quite a few as well.

Left the best standard bulb we could find, right the 6000k HID.
