Tips on Customising Front bar

Righto... While the car has 8 weeks off road i've been fiddling with it..
Installing massagers into the rest of the seats, etc...
Anyway, i noticed that Brutus in the UK modified the standard front bar..
I've been looking to get a Bozz front but they are more common then veilside now in qld... So i have been trying to find something with a nice open mouth for the intercooler and not common...
Solution... Modify the standard one...
I have the bar off and in my garage...
I have plenty of Fibreglassing gear
I have some mesh to use as a guide
I have way too much spare time.

Plans are to cut away the middle bar, use the mesh as a guide and then fibreglass over it.... fill the rest with body filler, sand it back nice and smooth, then get DMD to paint it when they do my side skirts...

Only catches are...
- I have limited experience with fibreglass and none with body filler
- The front bar it already pretty wrecked. Needs some plastic welding done on 2-3 cracks.
- front bar needs a respray anyway.

Anyone got any advice before i start? (hoping Brutus will read this)

if you need a hand with it I can come round & help out ... my experience is probably about the same as yours is, but 2 heads are better than one right? it'll help me out when I get around to doing mine anyways... haven't even gotten as far as cutting the middle section out yet.. :S

or... if you wanted a front bar to practice on before mucking yours up I have my partially damaged one that I'm planning to mod.. (it has a small dent in it & slightly bent out of shape..)

Rob,

Just out of interest, what RWD did you swap into?

I owned a R33, but I was also driving a 200sx, 180sx and an S13 during that period, all turbo. FTO was much nicer to drive.
