They will be really hard. If you dont mind a hard ride (even on the softest setting), you will love them. Certainly will make the car handle. But if you drive on rough roads regularly, they may not be the best thing for you. Oh, and if you hate rattles in the car, that would be another reason not to get them.

those teins aren't suitable for brissy roads..... gosh the roads over there are so bumpy! bumping and grinding haha

Lol... if i bought em... i'd be spewing bout the bumpiness.... Jap spec teins are renowned for being way too harsh and many people fork out a fair bit extra for aus spec ones.

However im determined to get as little wheel spin as possible when i smack into boost.... So if these will do it, these i'll get...

Although i would love a set of electronic adjustables...

They are not designed for drag racing or getting off the lights in a hurry, they are designed for track work. Jap Spec HA's come off the shelf with spring rates around 10 & 8 kg front & rear. Far too harsh for suburban roads. You'd need to get them sent up to fulcrum for re-valving & springing (approx $250 a corner)

The only electronic control you can get for Tiens is the EDFC system which allows you to adjust the damper setting from a control panel inside the car.

http://www.tein.co.jp/e/products/edfc.html

Its not available for the FTO either because the servo motor units that sit ontop of the struts wont fit under the bonnet when its closed.

I'm running jap spec HAs. Love 'em. Bumpy you say ??? Don't feel anything except medium and bad bumps after 2 weeks (but that's just me, guess it'll be different for everyone). Dramatically increases handling over stock shocks and lowered springs. Sucks for broken roads though :P

They actually don't give me any squeeking noises btw (my car's 97 so maybe everything isn't too loose yet ?) although i occasionally get a bit of noise from suspension but that's because i need to replace some bushes.

Overall, if you're after a comfy ride, avoid these. If handling is a higher priority, then i fully recommend them. Oh, $890 is a decent price, if they have indeed just done 25,000kms.

They had several different types though. The one's linked in this thread are Type HA (one of the better ones for handling, not comfort).

green

ethix, if yours are green and have Tein stickers, then you most definitely dont have stockies...... If they are HA's then it will be written on them

Delvance do you get understeer on the HA 10/8kg springs? if stock is 2.6/1.6.. then the same ratio shoudl be 10/6.1 on harder springs

i need to upgrade my aus spec Tien's ..they're only 5/4.. dunno what to get atm ... soo much understeer compared to stock, even with an lsd

The car handles fantastic with the Tein HAs. I carry higher corner entry speed compared to my mates 02 wrx wagon with sti springs on most corners in a mountain run, however his 4wd will almost always exit faster. As long as you're not heaps fussed about ride comfort, i definitely recommend them.

Current setup is Tein HAs jap model, 5th damper setting front, 2nd setting rear, with a front strut brace and Yoko A drive R1 tires (very fun).

The only time understeer happens is when i carry ridiculous speeds into a corner for the heck of it lol, or when you power down throughout a corner and don't pay attention to throttle control.

Bear in mind you probably don't want to kill off as much understeer as possible for a daily driven car. Driving a car with stupendous grip gets boring after awhile and you may also kill off some feedback from the car.

Edit - i had stock shocks and lowered springs for a few months (worn shocks nevertheless with Espellir springs) and it didn't impress me much to be honest. My modded rolla could corner much better for tight corners and came very close in sweepers (which it shouldn't have considering chassis differences). Not anymore now though.
