If it's approaching the 100xxx mark then you'll want a major service that will replace spark plugs and change the timing belt (if this snaps then bye bye engine). Whilst the manifold is off they can also check the water pump to ensure it's not leaking and replace as neccessary. They'll also do the minor service in that they'll ensure everything looks as it should, change fluids, filters, etc.
Last major service of mine was close to $2k but I had a lot done, so I'd be looking at around $1k for yourself. If you have a MiVEC GPX then the generic timing belts don't fit and you'll generally need a Mitsu one for around $250 :S (a lot more than $60!). A minor service would only cost around $200 with the things already mentioned, but as I said, the car is nearing the 100k mark with no service history so a major service would be the way to go to ensure you don't have to spend $4k+ down the track

The Gates brand T987 GPX timing belt has proven to be a perfect OEM replacement - for around the $100 mark too

I'm currently doing mine. Car sitting on 94k, been serviced every 5k since in got it about a rear ago. So far, the parts cost are as follows;
Oil - $32 5L (penzoil 10W40)
Oil filter - $10
Air filter - mine is relatively new
Fuel filter - $20
Spark Plug - unsure which to buy yet
Intake manifold gasket - ? not sure of cost
Timing Belt - $120
Water Pump - $100
Cam Seal - ? not sure of cost
Oxy sensor - $80
So far it ain't too bad I guess. With labour, it suppose it'll be a bit over the 1k mark. My mechanic said it'll cost me about $600 for labout

What exactly did you search for?
Gates belt is sold by Repco
Fuel Filter:
http://www.ftoaustralia.com/modules.php ... 49&start=0
Intake Manifold Gasket:
http://www.ftoaustralia.com/modules.php ... rpw+gasket
Water Pump:
http://www.ftoaustralia.com/modules.php ... water+pump
Cam Seal:
I'll have to look this up on CAPS for you - will be a Mitsi part.
Oxy Sensor:
http://www.ftoaustralia.com/modules.php ... ght=oxygen
When you search for something specific - you have to use the word 'and' in your search. Ie if looking for a water pump, search for 'water and pump' otherwise if you just put 'water pump' it will return results for every thread that has the word water or pump in it. When you use 'and' it returns results for threads that contain both the words water & pump

Delvance, Autobarn seems to be the cheapest palce to get the Gates Belt. I checked the one in Bankstown, the guy priced it at $120. Repco and Supercheap were about $30 dearer.
Repco have the oxy sensor for $80.

a lot of "generic" Mitsu items for the FTO come from the Galant and Lancer afaik -- I believe the fuel filter is the same as the Lancer

and something else is from the Galant... lol can't really remember but it seems the other guys have been a help

Thanks Joejoe and SilverFluids.
How about the Denso Iridiums ? I had them in another car and they were pretty good. You got to replace them sooner than other irdiums/plats though as the core is 0.4 The ones for a gpx are ik22 not sure for gr.
Lwrida, seems a bit steep to me ?

Its the gap that is 0.4mm not the core size, they last just as long - I run the Densos.

Oohh ok, i always thought it was the electrode diameter. The ones linked below say the diameter of the electrode is 0.4mm o.0

I think they can be had cheaper even on ebay.com (American ebay site).

get the right heat range. 7s for a GPX. for the power your running wouldn't make much of a difference. if it was 1.1 - 0.4. I run 0.6 as it happens.
