Hey im rico im 17 and im getting my red Ps soon
and i am have $8 000 budget and could swing 2 000 more to buy a car

im wanting a fto, but dno if i should get one for my first car
and i allowed are red ps allowed to drive ftos? i think soo

I sure you can find a god looking GPX somewhere...

Mate off course your allowed to drive FTO's on your red P's. as long as they are stock. :wink:

If it's completely stock then you may be able to find a good one for around $10k :) Hopefully not a GR or auto :P

Expect a good stock GPX (manual) to average around $11k (well, I think anyway, others may disagree :P)

lol u no fto prices are based a lot of the quality of the car. low kms, well looked after car will cost u around 15k, and a average one will be around 12-13. but anything under that, the buyer either has to be desperate to sell for a legitimate reason or has something to hide!

Anyway.. i no ricometa from other forums which ive been part of for over 5 years :D

no stock GR is the "fastest" on these forums. The so called fast ones are heavily modified. I'm sure with the same mods i can get a GPX to the same speed. so how about u get your facts straight and leave him alone. If they wanna leave basically stock, a GPX is a far better option than a GR. Did some1 mention climate control?

I didn't take offence, because as you mentioned stock GPXs > stock GRs, and he wanted stock :wink:

GRs with a lower compression ratio and no MiVEC are easier to modify with forced induction and thus will be "more powerful" after said modifications; but I'm a 'newb' so don't listen to me haha.

And my opinion is that manual is better than auto (tiptronic) because my preference is a manual sports car. I don't have the tiptronic version but I hear they are more prone to breaking and are more expensive to fix than their manual counterparts.

That said, I meant no disrespect to anyone who owns a GR or auto FTO -- as they're still FTO's afterall :wink: So please don't take offence!


Yes you're right in that in some states they are a higher price mark, but chances are they're newer (facelift models) and have had at least a few minor mods added (exhaust, rims, ICE, etc.)! The cars being sold currently are over 10 years old, and unless freshly imported, if they're used as a daily driver it's hard to find one with very low KM. I bought mine for close to $17k 18 months ago and now trying to sell her for $12k+ -- nothing wrong with her, and nothing to hide (not overly desparate haha), just the way it is with trying to sell sports cars in this state!

ahhh kk well mainly i hope my dreams will be set.
in a way i want an fto, but dno if i should get one for my first car.
i am now planning to save up more money and buy a car (hope fto) when i start uni.
Cause i really have no major need for a car, except for cruises :) and to b fullyy sickk haha which i do not intend to do and drive to to skool.

im jus mainly looking for a fto cheap nice, nothing fast or done up, stock is good. A 2.0L V6 MIVEC

yerr i probably wont end up getting one soon :( so cut. probably in 7-8 months :)
if anyone is willing to sell me thier fto :)

Well if you planning on just spend $10k on a fto, then u better off buy something else, apart from what other had pointed out already, base on your age, the insurance will cost your at least 1/5 of the car price per year.

Plus all the other running cost, you be paying 1/3 of the car every yr.

Hey Rico,

Straight up, i don't know your driving history, but if you're getting your red p's soon and you havn't been driving for very long, imho getting a sports car you like as your first car might not be such a good idea. For sure there's the passion and lure in it, but imho first cars have a higher chance of being wrecked or damaged...it's more of a learning curve. Just walking through local wreckers etc, so many wrecked cars have red p plates floating around in them (one i visited recently, unfortunately ~50% of the newly wrecked cars had red p's in them =/ ).

17 insuring an FTO is also going to suck as others have mentioned and to keep an FTO running tip top, a bit of maintenance is required due to age ($$$).

For an idea of price, i was shopping for cars for a fair while (inc. FTO's) and 6 months ago, i bought a stock gpx manual with 56xxx km's for 15k. I've definitely seen fto's go around the 10 mark, sometimes even less but the condition does generally reflect the price.

The different betweent GR and GPX are apart from the engine, the brake rotors on the GR are smaller.

Guy's If were going to talk about the fastest Stock FTO Vehical's that'll have to be the GPvR...

I have realised that my GPvR is a powerful Sport Car for a STOCK I dont no but have the GPvR been Tuned Harder or abit more or something cos i ummm dont like t say on the forums but no other stock fto has come close to me being stock. :wink:

I just wanna no if GPvR's like mine have been tuned harder or something o are they just Top of the range With Mivec and V6 & Other stuff.
