Nice dude. Good Work.

Gear Box Oil..I reckon 75W90NS is the proper REDLINE gearbox oil for our cars..

The synthetic VALVOLINE Gear Oil 75w-90 is supposed to make easier the shifting at lower temperatures. The same claim is not repeated for the semi-synthetic and mineral Valvoline gearbox oils.

This may be related partly to marketing strategies but there should be also some real effect.

a lot of people recommend the redline oil for gearboxes. Would've got some myself but was too lazy to order or find it haha. I've got Castrol Syntrax 75-90 in mine atm, it's a full synth oil and once the oil warms up, it's a pleasure to change gears. Hard to get into gear a morning start though (where the gearbox oil has cooled down completely). Apparently it's the same with the redline stuff.

I don't know what oil was in the box before, but it was hard to get in gear (compared to the syntrax) and 1st would never go in unless the car was not moving at all. It did work well from a cold start though lol.

Who did you get to fix the box and was it TIP or Manual?

GB oil. The MT90 form redline would be a good choice...shockproof if your get some serious mods which I doubt.

Motul 300V gear oil is good also.

Castol Syntrans I think or maybe Syntrax.

Look for a GL5 rated GB oil.

I used Redline Shockproof...but MT90 is a little different and helps eliminate notching.

I cbf finding out but do u need lots of friction modiferis in the FTO box? The NS version of redline is different to the std...

Hey guys have a look at this page

http://www.ftooc.org/phpbb/viewtopic.ph ... ht=synchro

It pretty much says GL4 is the one for our manual gboxes. Im having my gbox rebuilt as we speak, i had been using Castrol syntrax( 75w 90 - GL5)

Im not sure if i will move over to Castrol Transman ( 75w/85 - gl4 )

Not sure if the GL5 was the cause of my gbox issue.

$550!!! how the hell did you get away with it that cheap. I'm in the process of getting a quote at the moment and its $1000 just for bits and labour will be at least $700. Are you in syd cause I'd really like to know where I could get the parts cheaper? (the quote was on all genuine parts)

Two words - Mates Rates.

If you went through the post, his mate did it for him.

Yeah, manual.

For a tip you want a Automatic Transimission Fluid (or ATF) like the Dextron.

I really need to get some mechanic mates. It would be nice to save $1150 on a gearbox rebuild
