just a curious question.. how long roughly.. (hours) would you guys think it would take. to rub down a complete fto, not to the metal but to the paint ? and also how long it would take to spray it.

if u eat extra sugar free gum after eating a egg the proteins disolve the gum and it turns to mush in your mouth

hahah, yeah i think i'll just move interstate to "help" someone paint their car by doing the only thing i'm good at - ordering pizzas lol.
doing it yourself... wear a face mask of course (when sanding and painting, as jono said, it's bad for you), and where are you going to be doing the painting? i hope you have a huge garage or sealed shed cos you'll need to do it somewhere that's dust free (or as close as u can get it to dust free, otherwise sh*t will land in the wet paint and ruin it)

hahaha atleast il have fresh breath thought..
um nah dont have a garage at all got a front carport thingy .. i was planing .. on rubbing it back myself.. driving it down the road 1-2km. there a panel beater there.. and just geting him to respray my car there.. just payin him for labour and just using my own paint..
but yeah will defenetly have to consider a mask and some safety issues.. im preety stubborn and wouldnt of thought of that stuff lol
oh do u like peperoni ? bring a carton of corona's too hehe

I'd only be concerned with:
a) The time it will take. Unless your on holidays it'll take ages to do.
b) Quality. Obviously the prep work done on a car for painting is an important part of the respray. Just make sure you throroughly research the Methods and techniques of doing this. You dont want to save a few hundred bucks by doing it yourself then having a paint job that was a complete waste of money.
c) take plenty of Photos, then do up a DIY... Would be invaluable for anyone who has spare time and wants a respray on the cheap.
Good luck mate.. remember the saying... Measure twice, cut once.

I don't know if u've ever seen a car with a bad paintjob.. but I've seen a couple.
after a few months it goes really really dull.. like no matter what u do u cant make it shine. which is why it's better getting it done by a professional.
all the best though.

the dullness is normally because the "professional" was a cheap skate and cut corners while doing the paint job, it only looks all nice and shinny when u get it because they cut and polished it just before you get the car back, it's more to do with the painting rather than the prep.
lol, i know cos it happened to a friends car (so he cut and polished it again, then sold it lol)
BTW, dj_ules what colour's your car now?

lol at multicoloured (it sounds like the car looks a bit sad right now eh

)
ok, i was just checking that u r not going to paint straight over another colour (cos it might show through if u dont do enough coats)
